We've got the Heating on.

Woke up a few times last night, feeling so cold! You always feel the cold more when it's been warm, innit?

A few months of proper winter and 12 degrees will feel warm

I've put the heating on today too :( woke up, checked the temperature, 3degrees! eeek, time to switch the heating on or the kids won't get out of bed.

I want to live somewhere warmer, Dessatio has the right idea, and Stanley Edwards. Mind you, I heard you lot had some major storms last week, so perhaps it evens itself out a bit.

I refuse to put it on yet. Although I slept under 2 duvets last night, wearing a pair of tracksuit bottoms, 2 hoodies and some socks. I did have wet hair though - that may have been the problem.

£1 an hour! How big is your house?

A large 1 bedroom..

We had a £400 gas bill from November to March last year, 4 months. £100 a month. £3.33 a day.

Actually, we probably had the heating on for an hour in the morning, then 4 hours in the evening, so I'd estimate it costs 67p an hour to have the heating on.

Of course this doesn't include showers and cooking, so maybe make it 55p an hour.

Ah well, still costs a lot! :D

Sounds mad to me as well - I'm in a 4 bedroomed house and mine isn't that high!

We do buy a lot of coal though, and only heat the downstairs.

I think I'll be needing to dig out my shemagh in a few days

subversplat, next week

We moved into our flat last December and have never, ever had the heating on. It's a 3rd floor triple-glazed 2-bed

I do keep meaning to switch fuel suppliers though, I'm sure Southern Electric are ripping us off.

Chris - you seriously need to look into this! It's extortionate!

Anyway - four hours in the evening? In the summer?

No, November to March isn't summer! ;)

Will see what I can do about reducing it... ground floor, so always higher heating costs. Really high (11ft) ceilings as well, makes a big difference. Single-paned Victorian style windows also take their toll. As do massive windows in the kitchen.

This year we've also got to contend with leaving a little bathroom window open so the cats can get in and out.

Four hours in the evening is a lot though, even in the winter! We don't have high ceilings but a through lounge with double patio doors that are open most of the time, with the heating on, so I'd still look into it

I'm afraid I'm going to have to tsk you Miss Pie - sleeping with wet hair? You'll give yourself a crick, young lady.

Anyway, we're still holding out on the heating because things are so changeable, but I only survived the evening's telly by wrapping us both in the spare duvet.

Our house is drafty :(

I suppose it is... 1hr from 5:30 to 6:30, then 7:30 to 8:30, then 9:30 to 10:30, then 11 - Midnight.

Actually, it was probably less than that. Maybe 3 hours a night.

I definitely need to bleed the radiators... that's for sure.

apart from one week this summer our heating hasnt gone off - 1 hr from 6-7am and one from 5-6pm :) but we dry clothes on the radiators and cos of the shit summer have hardly dried stuff outside

chris you're def paying too much. we pay £40 a month for gas, and the time you say your bill was for we have it on about 7hrs a day :o (I love a hot house) & the cooker is gas as is the fire

we have a 3 story, 2/3 bed terrace

I had to work out how it all worked this morning (new house and all).

Bit too chilly. 17oC inside is one degree under what is recomended for baby Suplexes.

That ain't right! We pay £60 a month for gas and leccy in a 2 bed flat
and we pay about that for a 3 bed house( small) in the depths of winter! but then its a teeny house and we have a condenser boiler which is very cheap to run

I've panicked about the bills now and turned it off. :(

I'm just going to buy everyone their own fleecy blanket.

We've got ours on and had it on for a 'boost' last night as well.

Bloody damp windy ground floor.

Mine isn't on and won't be going on for a while yet, i haven't worn a coat outside yet either !

woosies the lot of ya !

It isn't that cold !

I'm not even wearing jumpers outdoors. :D It's just proper cold in here! and the bathroom is awful. Technically we're meant to have the heating on more otherwise the place never dries out. oops.

I put mine on last night - I was trying to hold off until October, but the washing needed drying.

I think sometimes i must have some seal genes...........

very rarely feel cold and if it is cold can acclimatise real quick and easy like !
