we've been burgled by crackheads

well the fingerprint lady came round - she got a couple of prints, but not very good ones. i guess there's a chance they might find a match but i dont hold out much hope. i've no idea how good fingerprint matching is though...

That stereo mc is a copy of a painting by Ed Gray, a South London artist. He painted it a few months after the brixton bomb, as a tribute to Brixton and the people here.
as for the painting, whether you like it or not, i like the way it tries to sum up the atmosphere of the market and brixton in general. brixton may not be everyone's cuppa but it's "Paradise" to some.

BH and Pip, FFS I'm not blaming the victim. Or saying nobody should live in Brixton.

Statistically, when you live in an inner city area you're are at higher risk of theft and other robbery. Careful or not, eventually IME makes little difference beyond deterring casuals or buying time (and I lived in Toxteth long before moving here). Okay as long as you're careful? Isn't that blaming the victim a bit? If you were targetted, "careful" isn't enough.

Why else would the insurance premiums be set as high as they are?

I hope you've got some way of securing and/or blocking that sash window at lwast at night or when your'e out - trouble is if it's rented there's only so much you can do. :(

Just to give a bit of balance, I live in Brixton too, and I took my son out to nursery this morning, and was away from the house for about half an hour. When I got home, I realised that I didn't have my keys. I was standing in the rain with my baby son in the pram cursing because I thought I'd locked myself out.

They were in the front door.
:o:o

Half an hour's plenty of time for someone to have cleared out the house. I guess I was lucky it was raining, and where I live is tucked away, but even so. It's not necessarily 24/7 crime in Brixton.

And sorry to hear about this BH. I was burgled when I lived on the Clapham borders, so I know how much it sucks. Make sure everything's secure, because we had a return visit from the bastards not long after.

I think use of the term 'crackheads' is deeply disresptful to those suffering the illness of addiction, and merely reinforces stereotypes. Or something
