West Ham 2005/6 thread

I suppose. But any committed West Ham fan will know away trips up north are always hellish for us. In the last few seasons we were in the premiership we had 6-0 and 5-0 defeats at Everton, and 7-1 at Blackburn... We have a slightly better record at Newcastle...
FFS... Why ruin the mood mentioning Everton :(

good start, but we will have to see what happens.

strange that tractor boy is moaning.... I seem to remember norwich having a clock counting down until you lot were relegated. and you ended up coming seventh or something in your first season.....

if we get a decent striker then we stand a chance. gabbidon and benayoun really impressed on saturday.

as did harewood, even though he didn't score.

newcastle will be more difficult, but hey 3 pts can't be bad. now just another 37 to go....

Hey, I'm performing a public service here, preparing you for the inevitable.

shaddup ya cynic ;) and enjoy the moment, I remember back in 85 when we missed out on the championship on the last day of the season.

wow, you're old. i started supporting west ham in the late 80s so really i can only remember relegation battles.

Enjoy seeing any of you who are making the journey up to the Federal Republic tommorrow.

Should be a decent game, still no strikers so huuuuuuge pressure on Chop Souey.

(nb, half our team appears to be out now, if you can't beat us tommorrow, then theres something seriously wrong!)

oy cheeky!...I still have all my teeth I'll have you know!

I was also at the 75' cup final and the '81 cup final. My Grandad was at the first Wembley cup final -'23! (Although he died in '87).

And get this first match I went to was the '64 cup final against Preston - I was 5! Don't remember the match though.

Yet I don't feel old...

And now a funny thing is that my youngest son at 5 has just turned onto football/west Ham and the first match he really watched was against Preston in the play off final - weird co-incidence or what?...

Newcastle-West Ham

A game of epically bad proportions

Just shocking really. Bolton away next then Man Utd, 2 teams we have no record against so theres 1 point from 12

The man is gone. Dead man walking

our new midfielder bennyon(or whatever) is looking quite useful, been impressed thusfar.

reo-coker looks like he will be premiership quality as do etherington and anton.

Im actully getting a lot more confident now.

You've just realised that your one of a number of distinctly average Premiership teams (I mean that in a good way, best league in the world my arse)

Nice

I'd have taken 4 points from the first 2 games before the season started. And that sending off yesterday was a disgrace.

Interested to see whats going to happen with this Kia bloke, they confirmed they were considering making an offer to the stock exchange last week. 100 million on players......(salivates...). Of course if we hadn't flogged the family silver we'd have a team worth than anyway...

i don't see why it would happen before january now. be a bit of a gamble if he took us on now and we were bototm before the next transfer window opens and we can't quite buy our way out of it.

I do think that in cases like this it's time to have video referees. We very well could have won that match if he hadn't been sent off.

The problem is IMO that it's not always easy for the ref to see, in the case of such tackles, whether the player won the ball or not. Video refs would help things like that and would only take about 5 seconds or so.

linesman should have been enough for that one. better trained linesmen would sort a hell of a lot of shite out i reckon.

Disappointing result :(

But from what I heard we played quite well but our finishing was rubbish.

Let's get a decent striker and we'll be fine.

Begs the question is Harewood and Zamora up to the job?

And also conceded two goals at home, if we want to succeed in the premiership we need to tighten up defensively and not go out fighting in a blaze of attractive football glory - which is what our game sounded like.

Crowd were brill as usual
