What is the difference between being asked to leave and expelled. Surely it's the same?

I don't think anyone got expelled from our school. You would have had to burn it down to even get close really. It was waay slack looking back. The teachers didn't even be bothered to turn up to their own detentions.

not necessarily. in my case, my records would show that i freely decided to leave at Easter. if i'd have refused and been expelled, the records would show that.

Ok! So I've just woken up. The teachers couldn't be bothered to turn up to their own detentions.

Do you want that a hundred times sir?

Not me... my sister got caught smoking weed on a school trip, along with a number of other top, favourite students (including the head boy). The head told my parents 'I could expel your daughter', to which my mum's reply (she knew him quite well) was 'Really, Geoffrey, do you want the publicity about that'. And as the alleged 'top' local grammar school, of course they didn't.

It's similar in private schools - you don't often hear of expulsions because the parents and management tend to come to 'agreements' that the child 'ought to go to a different school' to avoid any untowards publicity on either side.

My aunt managed to get chucked out of various girls' schools for formenting dissent generally! :D

but why?

you can tell us, you're amongst friends ;)

I had been seen walking down the street with my arm around a girl, and (the shame, the shame :o )

looking into her eyes

But I was doing this while wearing school uniform

My excuse was that she was my girlfriend, and I was 17.

Yes, I was expelled from primary school in the last week for calling the deputy head a 'jumped up fucking little Hitler who treats us like shit and I'll be glad to see the back of this shithole'.

It almost jeopardised my chance of getting into secondary. I had to be sent for psychological assessment before I got in.

They came to the conclusion that I was just a highly intelligent, but disruptive, belligerent, persistent and single-minded cunt.

You all know that by now anyway though

yes, expelled from secondary school for being a disrespectful unruly pain in the arse who the teachers couldn't 'control' - and then they asked me to come back within a week. there was a interschool sports day coming up and they wanted me to win the hurdles and 100 metres for them....

it wasn't quite that cut & dry but it WAS bloody ridiculous according to my mum. i can't even remember to be honest..that's how interested i was.

I and a few other mixed race/black guys got suspended for having hairstyles with far too much "creativity" in them. We noted and protested vocally that the white kids that did the same never recieved such punishment...

got suspended from school for a small incident involving bullying, cheque forgery and hardcore porn* :o

my little brother got expelled from the same school for an international incident involving someone's german penpal, letter forgery and lots of rude german words :)

*they made me see a psychologist after that.. and now is one! :D

I got expelled on my last day at school, by a prick of a Deputy Head with a grudge.. so pointless really. Got suspended a few times.

I was suspended twice.

Once for writing a computer virus. It wasn't actually a virus just a batch file that created a shell that looked exactly like DOS, displaying “File not found”, and made the hard drive whirl. The Computer Studies teacher didn't know his arse from his elbow and was shitting bricks. It was the first year the subject had been taught at our school, way before Windows was available.

The second time was for playing truant. You're not coming to school so we are suspending you. Suited me. ;) I never actually went back. I left school and moved out of home at just after turning sixteen.

bloody hell, quite a few of you.
i always thought i was well naughty at school. but suspension, sex, smoking... nope! never did any of those.
it was always the really, really naughty girls that did those.

quite a few counts of suspension, threatened with expulsion a few times but I think they were just that. all for really stupid things like selling fags, porn, getting into scraps, almost hitting a teacher with a brick, stealing stuff from the media and music department etc. oh and twice for "extreme" haircuts.

I was suspended twice. :o

The first time I was 14 and told a supply teacher to fuck off. He was winding me up I was having a shit day and he ripped my magazine.

The second time I was 15 and got absolutely trashed at school on a concoction of bourbon, thunderbird and various other things. I was really (un)lucky I didn't get expelled. You had to do a lot to get excluded from our school because if they got too carried away there would have been no students left.

I also had my own seat in friday 45min detention because I turned up late or bunked off early at least once a week and was always losing/forgetting my tie.

I was asked to leave 6th form. It was basically cos I wasn't going to do very well & they didn't want the figures bringing down, it was supposed to be a good school.

I declined their offer, stayed & didn't get enough points to get into Uni.

i never got a dentention but managed to luckily miss out on being suspended a couple of times

incident A) 5th form - told a teacher to 'fuck off you daft cunt'. I was told to get out of the classroom and i would be seeing the headmaster, but the teacher completely forgot about it, and when reminded about a month later (not by me!), just said he probably deserved it!

incident B) 6th form - two odious, very rich tory boys, got a pasting from a couple of people. Luckily, no-one in the locker room 'saw anything'

incident C) Another fight. There was one really sexist, homophobic rich boy prick i couldn't stand. He started really winding me up, then pushed me, so i knocked him out. Luckily the geography teacher said he deserved it and i got off scot free!

The school i went too was a state-maintained grammar, and amoung many of the other school kids of the area, had a rep. of being 'posh'. Whilst there were a smallish core of rich and posh people, it was mainly just ordinary, ableit clever kids. Loads of my friends were thus quite surprised at how many suspensions there were. Having said that, it was a very liberal school and you could get away with quite a bit (though that often was due to not getting caught) and there were very few expulsions, i imagine 'cos the didn't want to have their exam results affected.

The only two expulsions i can think of was due to one lad being sent to a young offenders nick for stabbing someone (not at the school), and one lad who had been suspended a couple of times, including for calling in a bomb threat, and topped it off with firebombing a teachers car! hehe

Some of my favourite suspensions included:

When i was in my first year, a lad was suspended for pissing on another lads head! :D

Numerous drug related offences, including one lad who got caught selling weed to the daughter of the head of maths!

One lad was suspended for selling 'e', but had that cancelled when they turned out to be skittles. However with the amount of piss taking he recieved i'm guessing he'd have preffered to have been expelled!

In the lower sixth, a lad and lass got suspended when they were caught shagging in the storage room for the mats in the impressive sports hall! haha
What makes this story even better is that the girl was seeing a different lad. When this lad found out he battered the shagger, thus getting himself suspended as well. Oh, how we laughed!

In the third or fourth year, one of my best mates was suspended. His parents ran a corner shop. He knicked the jazz mags from the top shelf, and then sold them at school for a decent profit. He maintained this for about six months, until his locker broke and vast amounts of porn spilled all over the floor! :D

nope.

despite being a known substance user, a serious truant (often not showing up for a week at a time), a serial uniform abuser and a general smart alec i was treated by most of the teachers like some sort of hero (most of my teachers were lefties and kind of proud to be teaching the junior agitprop division) and got away with it with bare-faced smugness. almost certainly because i was never violent in my disruption, and any occasional acts of violence that i might have been linked to were anti-fash and as such almost totally tolerated by the school (in the mid 90s in west essex there were constant battles between the skins and everyone else). at the same time i was smart enough not to fail even though i didn't attend as much as i could, so they kind of left me to it.

Sometimes suspended for possibly good reasons i.e swearing, and others for stupid reasons i.e bunking off (so they then suspend me meaning I can legally sit at home go and meet my mates at lunch) and for my skirt being inappropriate WTF.

i was allowed to do my exams (which I didn't) and I attended art lessons that was it. Was banned from the prom :(

The trouble was the school actually wanted me there as I was a gifted student apparantley and would have probably done them good in the league tables

looking back i really wish I hadn't fucked up so much. :(

we all think we are so big and clever when we are that age.

LOL! :D classic.. ;)

in year 7 they suspended at least 20 boys in the year for graffitti offences
at the end of year eleven they asked pretty much all of those boys to leave!!

in year 13 me and a mate got a HUGE bollocking from the head of chemistry for trying to make ether
i pleaded ignorance, was just 'curious'
it was in all the textbooks- and just cos it wasnt on the syllabus...
anyway- her main concern was that its highly flammable,
my main concern was inhaling it.

on st patricks day in year 13 i went to the local pub at lunchtime with the same mate who tried to make ether with me.
we went in there to find our 2 housemasters (we were in different houses, these blokes we well safe).
they'd had the same idea as us and had beaten us to it (they were both PE teachers).

imagine how it looks anyway- im just walking back into school with my big St Pats guinness hat on that i got in the pub (SO STUPID of me!!)
when walking towards me + dave come the headmaster and 2 deputies.
completely by chance, but it looks like we've both been caught red-handed.

anyway
the head was too naive to realise what was going on, but just as one deputy was about to tear into us
our 2 housemasters come in just in the nick of time
and make up a bullshit excuse about sending us out 'on an errand'
+ when asked about my hat- i said it was st pats day
he looked FURIOUS + ordered me to take it off
(what a close escape!!)

i must point out- when i reached year 13 i was made a prefect,
so i thought that made me 'invincible'- and i went from a student who kept his nose relatively clean,
to a little bastard that didnt care what he did to piss off the 'management'
including stealing a TV from the business studies department to put in the 6th form common room :p
