No way did Taylor mean to do that .. I feel incredibly sorry for Eduardo but I also feel for Taylor because you could see he was gutted himself. It wasn't a red card even and maybe not even yellow imo
Now that's a fair argument in support of Taylor.

The point - which I have made carefully - is that if you act recklessly you may rightly be held responsible for the damage which then occurs.

but it's a sport, so in f1 when senna had that crash that killed him, did they ban driving altogether to stop accidents like that happening? no, injuries happen in all kinds of sport, taylor never broke eduardos leg on purpose. so unless you are in favour of banning tackling altogether, please shut up.

So not only would you like tough-but-legal tackling outlawed you'd like the offenders 'held responsible' and punished, even when it's blatantly clear that there was no real malice involved? The point - which I have made carefully - is that if you act recklessly you may rightly be held responsible for the damage which then occurs.
Oh do fuck off. Is there anyone here who doesnt think that it was a red card?
see post 66
I don't see how you are confused - you've just put my point exactly. The outcome is crucial. That's why a tackle which actually shatters a leg in two should rightly be treated differently to a tackle which might look similar but does no damage. Just as a speeding motorist who actually kills someone is (and should be) treated differently to a motorist who simply speeds. After all, there are speeding motorists 'day in, day out'. Is it clear now?
Ok then - how is a studs-up challenge on someones ankle that entirely misses the ball and breaks someones leg not a red card?
i have just seen the photos on the other thread and they make it look a lot more vicious than the youtube click, Agricola may have a point about him deserving to be sent off
photo's are alot more decpetive than a video clip.
it was a yellow card tackle I thought and i don't think the ref would have sent him off except for the extent of the injury. I don't think it was malicious, Eduardo just moved the ball to quickly for him.
To all those Wenger detractors who say he never sees anything, that may be so but at least he faces the cameras everytime, unlike a certain red nosed one who threw his toys out of his pram so long ago you've probably forgotten Fergie refuses to talk to the beeb and sends his puppet out instead.
So Wenger might go off on one and I'm happy to admit he's a bad loser, but the guy is human and at least he doesn't refuse to show his face.
May I refer you to my username.....
tbh, I think a lot of challenges this season have been outrageous.
I like hard tackles, but don't take the piss eh? banned for life? fuck off Arsne?

photos are worse than useless in this instance, we know he took his leg, otherwise it wouldn't be broken. The pics don't show where the ball was, the angle of the challenge, nothing.

that is what i thought at first, hope you are right

Well the way i see it if Eduardo hadn't been injured and the ref had sent taylor off for it there would have been an outcry about OTT reffing and the removing of tackling from the game.
Think, was it any worse than the tackle Robbie Keane got sent off for?
