Welsh International football thread 2009

GOTCHA...

14TH November in the Cardiff City Stadium

Wont this be a bit like a home fixture for Scotland on account that by then they might have 3 or more Cardiff players in the team?

Incidentally its a little known fact that in the 20s Fred Keenor captained Wales against Scotland at Ninian Park, Scotland were captained by another Cardiff player Jimmy Blair. Its the only time ever that two opposing international captains have played for the same club and in a game played on their club home ground!

Great news about Flynn. He's done a brilliant job.
Earnshaw's crocked now as well. Down to 13 fit outfield players! Players pullling out for 'personal' reasons. Eight midfielders have pulled out all in all! Pob lwc fory/good luck tomorrow Cymru/Wales!!

Post Ramsey era (for 6 months hopefully)

Step forward Collison.

Ginga monsta propa captain.

Bale on fire.

Lets see..................

From what I bothered to watch/listen to it seemed like the same old stuff, no end product from very few chances. Hopefully I missed a rampaging response after going 1-0 down though...

I did didn't I?!?! Don't disappoint me!

No.

No you didn't.

:(

Yeah I saw the result, I figured not.

This talk of potential is starting to irritate me too, a few potentially very good players but a lot of Championship/League 1 players who can't make the step up.

They're not going to qualify even if the more promising players live up to their billing.

I hope those words get shoved down my throat in 18 or so months time.

I can't it sits there like a broken old man in the corner of a pub, I try my best to shut it out but its savage melancholy still cuts through the laughter of friends.

Yes, I forgot, you are only supportive of successful teams, even if you have no connection what so ever with them. You will never know the downs of supporting your local team; therefore never really appreciate the ups.

Wales are just dull though, at least Northern Ireland have had moments of punching well above their weight.

Yes, but i am welsh and live near cardiff so support cardiff city and wales; through thick and thin. We have to put up with a lot of thin but the other option would be to start cheering for england and supporting a team like manchester united .... no thanks, i have principles.

hey I'm not suggesting you stop supporting them, I was only pointing out the fact this thread title depresses me.

Have NI fans ever had the pleasure of standing at a game pointing at Italian supporters and singing "You're shit and you know you are". One of the greatest moments of my spectating career!!

Or a player scoring a hatrick against germany.

Sorry I got the team wrong. Earnshaw scored a hatrick against scotland not germany. Although he has scored a winner against germany too.

I loved Ian Rush's scuff to win 1-0 against West Germany. Or was it a unified Germany? Probably was to be fair. Fine radio 'viewing'.

First defeat for West Germany after winning the 1990 World Cup. Drank my only ever beers in the Glendower and The Custom House before the game, both long long gone!

Like when they won the last ever Home International series with Wales second, scrapped because NI and wales weren't considered good eniugh anymore!!!
