Well done Sense About Science - more celeb nonsense debunked.

I used to work with John Henry and I also know and colaborate with a number of "very expert toxicologists" :D

I'm just curious to see what chymaera knows, or thinks he knows, about an area of expertise that I contribute to...
lol - I'd lay odds on him knowing fuck all about it, but it still won't stop him loudly supporting a law that says me and millions of other people like me should be locked up.

I'd lay odds on you being (utterly) wrong. Well, if you're reffering to Henry rather than chymaera. ;)

Just as you're wrong about the above. It's easy to twist words into a format where they make some sense. Biological food, food with less chemicals, evil genes, animals at the heart of enivromental catastrophes... All of them remarks that'd fail you your GSCE science award (or at least miss a C grade).

Hell, let's look at your example of how Paltrow knows more than Ursula Arens. It says that obesity is the link, not diet. If you can't tell the difference then you really shouldn't be trying to critique anything to do with this topic.

and your contention is that obesity isn't linked to diet?

bollocks, I'm onto a bit of a loser here aren't I...

I shouldn't have said 'the celebreties are speaking more sense than the scientists', it's not quite what I meant. What I was trying to get at was that in those examples while the statements aren't entirely accurate, there's a degree of truth behind at least the ones I quoted.

Not if it's GM or not, no. Which is what Paltrow is saying.

Thing is that a lot of this stuff makes some superficial sense, but when you actually look at it that superficial sense is nothing but MMR jab paranoia and bullshit dressed up as fact.

The animals causing global warming thing does have a kernel of truth in it, pity the celeb in question bungled their lines more than GWB on a bad day though.

The point isn't what I know or don't know, I am not a Chief Constable making what are going to be comments publicised nationally when he has no idea what the fuck he is on about.
Comparing a recreation drug with a medicinal drug is a complete nonsense anyway. Brunstrom in common with a number of senior police officers is a bloody idiot.

Yes it is! Particularly when you come out with a statement like this:

"...he has no idea what the fuck he is on about."

And this:

"Comparing a recreation drug with a medicinal drug is a complete nonsense anyway."

Would you care to expand on this please? What makes you think that you know better?

is she talking about gm?

if so then yeah she's obviously talking bollocks, but if she's talking about eating natural food / avoiding manufactured shite then I'd probably agree her viewpoint (not that you can avoid cancer entirely, but that it would probably help). Not got any science to back me up on it, but eating healthily's a good idea for other proven health reasons anyway, so no harm done if I'm wrong.

salaam.

What if the rocket crashes before entering space?
