Well According to the BBC its Scolari for England

why has this been so drawn out? they have a 3 man committee, then get more members in, one which was apparently dein who wanted the foreign coach, then they break a gentleman's agreement to approach big phil, ffs the fa come down fairly hard on illegal approaches but seem more than willing to break this gentleman's agreement

What happened to David Platt? He was doing great things with the Under-21s, He seems to have been completely overlooked. Why?

Platty was a Villa hero, but his record at club level was poor. Nottingham Forest started their slide into the shite under his 'management'. Maybe he's better with youngsters than older players.

Apart from his refusal to call Shaun Wright-Phillips into his U-21 squads, having released him from Forest during his time there informing him he'd 'never be a footballer'....

Ian Wright, Sam Allardyce, Stuart Pearce, Howard Wilkinson, Gary Lineker and John Barnwell..

ALL AGAINST BIG PHIL....

There's 6 reasons alone to back the FA!

Pearce was quoted in today's Sports Guardian as saying that whoever was appointed, had his support.

Has he said something else??

"Sco-lar-i, whoah-oh-oh-oh. Sco-lar-i, whoah-oh-oh-oh.
He looks like Gene Hack-man. In the French Conn-ec-tion!

Nah, they started their slide under Brian Clough :p

I'm really not arsed about Scolari's political views tbh. Sorry, I don't see why I should beyond profoundly disagreeing with them if they are as described.

Sky News reporting Scolari's fucked it off & withdrawn his application.
Well done the English press! They've helped fuck things up again!
The Brazilian, the coach of Portugal, said he had been shocked by intrusion into his life by the English media.

"There are 20 reporters outside my house now," said Scolari, who had been strongly tipped in this week's media to become Sven-Goran Eriksson's successor.

"If that is part of another culture, it is not part of my culture. I am not the coach, and will not be (England's) coach.

"I don't want this situation involving England because in two days during which I was not coach, I never agreed to anything, my life was invaded. My privacy was totally under siege."

....Scolari added that the press had made "absurd comparisons" of him and his wife with Eriksson and the Swede's partner, and how they dressed, adding: "That's not part of my life and its never going to be."
Is it any wonder that England has such trouble getting a coach?

The thing is, if the press didn't doorstep people and otherwise hassle them, nobody would really mind anyway (amongst the paper buying public).

It's the fear of giving someone else the exclusive keeps them going further and further to get the (usually deeply uninteresting) story

And is it any wonder we can't win anything?

We have our best chance of winning the world cup in decades due to the fact we have a sacked foreign manager in charge of our team... basically the media have done their job in getting the manager sacked, but for some weird inexplicable reason the sacked man is still in charge! That, posters, is a sure-fire recipe for success.

Get yer bets on.

Yeah, nice job our press. Now we can get an english manager and trundle along like we used to, vearing from frustrating displays of potential to performances that just want to make you jump off a cliff.

Scolari's politics sound disappointing though.

Howard Wilkinson tra la la la

Speaking of pressures, surely the kidnapping, player murdering, rioting gang warfare that Scolari managed in Brazil had a little bit more pressure than a few nosey home counties journo's

No, the latter is personal, and therefore a lot more intrusive.

A 'few' journos??! 'Nosey'??

loads and intrusive wankers is more accurate i believe.

I'm amazed that anyone wants to do the job, given the way the press treat England managers.

When we do well the players get the credit, when we do badly the manager get's the blame.

They also get about 5million quid a year, in Sven's case, which must make things a touch easier. :p

Yeah, but they get similar money managing other teams, with no doubt a fraction of the intrusion into their lives offered so kindly by the english press.

Not even the richest man on the planet should have to go through the total humiliation wrought upon graham taylor.

I still take my hat off to him having recovered from all that disgraceful abuse.

And look at the sick fuckers: scolari's not even taken the job yet and they're writing about the comparative merits of his and sven's partners' dress style. Fuck man, how pathetic can humans get? Is that what people want to read about? If they do, then they're pathetic too.
