Welcome to Lambeth - Seriously

OK, but dont' tell'em it was me who did it. Actually, on second thoughts they might pay me for coming up with a "really wacky idea".

:D :D :D

Oh come on, that's so good we need to see it on here...

"First off, I'd like to thank my mum and my dad for being there for me through good times and bad..."

*gets out 4 pages of A4*

Have I understood this advert thing right? Does the "No, seriously" bit mean "Bet you thought you were going to be mugged but you weren't!" Or is it cleverer than that?

I'm profoundly baffled. I'm going back to my ThinkSpace in Acres to go and write a few NIMBY letters to the SLP.

I'm confused too!! What does it mean exactly.. is it really that obvious?

I think it means 'no, seriously, it's not as crap as you've heard it is....'...

In terms of crime, housing, etc. etc.

It's a actually bloody patronising isn't it! Probably designed by someone who lives in Fulham.

See I couldn't believe that they would actually print something so insulting...

Now if it were something like "Lambeth Council are efficient and helpful... no seriously".. then I could get the irony...

I understand the arguement behind this insidious poster is that the rest of the country thinks that Lambeth is a violent, dangerous borough run by a loony left council.

But the campaign isn't about promoting Lambeth up and down the country, the posters aren't appearing in Bristol or Carlisle. It's supposed to be about Lambeth Council explaining to its electors and paymasters just what 'Revitalise' is about and the posters are being put up within Lambeth.

How much better if the expense and effort of this campaign were actually spent explaining just what the options are and how local people can make their choice. It may be that Revitalise really is an opportunity to make a quantum change in the borough. We've no way of knowing. Instead we get 'Everyone thinks the place you live in is shit' posters and the usual PR pap

Agreed. It seems like this is a wrapper for things that were likely to happen anyway rather than any kind of exercise in engaging with people.

Isn't it a bit fishy that the slant of the posters is aimed at people from outside Lambeth? (even if the campaign isnt being pushed abroad, alot of people pass through and will see bus ads).

Do the council think Lambeth people are part of the problem? i.e. outside investment (interms of people and money) are the only solution to Lambeth's problems?

It turns out (hidden in the depths of their website) Lambeth want our feedback

To that effect Ive set up a pledge that says:

I will let Lambeth Council know my thoughts on their plans to 'Revitalise' the Borough, but only if 50 other Lambeth residents cynical about their intentions will do too.

Any takers?

In fact maybe we could display all our subverts in the Brixton co-op art space?

No, seriously.

And get the SLP to do a photo story.

This is such a good idea. I'd be well up for helping out with this one.
I mean what better use of a space in that place could there be? It's crying out for a bit of politics.

Oh drat, I forgot. Apparently they don't do politics. So maybe doing it at BAC is a non-starter after all.

Publicising memespring's brilliant generator on stickers (on the offending ads) and having an online gallery of the results would be a goer, though.
