Wizbit. Big pile o'shite, it was.

Same as most -

Theme toon to Dr Who,
Armchair thriller opening credits
nuclear attack.

Dr Who music sent me waaaaay over the edge at 28 and on shrooms :(

Most unnerving thing about The Tomorrow People was the title sequence. A glut of weird hand signals, foetuses, 'all seeing eyes' and spooky synths. Gave me the willies.

I've just found the theme music - way ahead of its time. Linky

I was given one of the DVDs to review, it was like dark place for production values but I remember it being super cool at the time.

The jester bloke out of Rentaghost. Terrified of him, I was. He always looked like he was going to grab you.
Aww, I bloody loved him.

Cor, that brought back memories that did. I really wanted to be a tomorrow people when I was little. :)

Exposure to theme tunes like that during kids' formative years probably had some sort of influence on musical creativity once ecstasy and acid was added into the neuronal mix in later life... ;)

Me too - spent half my time wanting to be one, the other half being terrified :D

Sucker for Star Trek, Doctor Who and Blake's 7 as well :o

Same guy seems to be responsible for the theme for Blake's 7 too, Dudley Simpson

"Deadly" Dudley Simpson in his element, scaring the shit out of kids with minor key precision (cf Blake's Seven and countless "Sunday classics" themes). Arguably the classic 'Cream era use of 'portamento' lead synth (with the possible exception of Doctor Who).

That 'wear your seatbelt' ad where it shows a hammer hitting a peach at the moment of impact. I used to run and hide when it was shown!

Oh and 'The Children of the Stones' scared the shit out of me - but I couldn't help watching it.

Thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou. I've been trying to remember what the fuck that was for years. All I could ever tell people was that it was a long-nosed man in a suit and he did... stuff... in that programme...

Noseybonk. That was his name. Fucking hell. He still scares me now.

The Changes

Which I found very eerie and a bit depressing but exciting too. The nu-luddite madness that wrecked society was ultimately all down to The Necromancer, iirc. Excellently atmospheric stuff.

(mmm... lovely page layout on that site, but well done to whoever put it up coz it brought back more memories  .)

ah right, it was a sentient lode-stone. It all reminds me of Alan Garner for some reason.

More congrats to the guy who did this site, it's a real labour of love.

Round the Twist had some scary episodes... It's back now, time to relive my childhood fears :D

The Quatermass when everyone was drawn to Wembley stadium and turned into crystals was particulary scary, oh and Threads as well. And Survivors (still can't watch this, too 'society is all shit' for me)

Tripods is still a quality programme, got dvd at Xmas and just finished watching it last week. Tonorrow people hasn't held up anything like as well and I thought it was just laughable when I watched the early episodes, much to my disappointment

It was made >30 years ago to be fair :(

Jesus fuck, I didn't need to be reminded of Noseybonk. WRONG WRONG WRONG!

For some reason when I was very young I was utterly terrified of the puppet in a kids' prog called (I think) Ragtime. One of my earliest memories is being in the living room on my own and seeing an ad for it come on TV - I went apeshit and ran out to look for my mum but she had disappeared and I was in the house on my own!

In fact she was in the toilet. I think it took her quite a while to calm me down after that little episode.

noseybonk

Forgive me for resurrecting this thread, but this old footage of 'noseybonk' has come to my attention.

* WARNING *

not work safe.
not anything safe.
definitely not suitable for children.

a well-meaning education

there was a "tour of the body" programme just called "THE BODY",
featuring a suspiciously friendly uncle and his eager attempts to explain all bodily functions to the avid young viewer...
a token episode featured live papier-maché scenery of an oily forehead, with gigantic hairsacks and zits full of goo which the uncle jumped on, bursting the gigantic-scaled zits open with squirts of fake "pus" raining everywhere (and covering the screen with mighty SPLATs  !)

another memorable episode was the one where "when mum and dad is alone in the bed, they take their clothes off (this is how they look like- big explanatory photo with arrows towards PENIS, VAGINA, BREASTS, PUBIC HAIR, etc.), and sometimes they want to make love (because they really, really care for each other, you know), so then daddy puts his penis into mummys vagina and begings to thrust and this is called (explanatory poster), and feels really, really nice- so when they do this it is possible to make babies because a little sperm cell (cue picture of sperm)... etc. etc. etc.-
but sometimes, most of the time, mum and dad don't want to make babies, they do it just for fun- BECAUSE IT FEELS REALLY, REALLY NICE :D "

There was this kids programme called Animal Crackers where these guys dressed in big cat suits came down off a flying saucer and started playing in a band. They were like a weirded out version of the Banana Splits, but far more sinister. It scared me so much I could't get close enough to the TV to turn it off. Does anyone remember it? Most people that I've spoken to don't, maybe it was just shown in a few areas. Or maybe I'm just old.

When on the invisible man opening titles (TV Series) these two metal thing came together.

Gave me the right willies.
