The second season starts tonight here in the US, although i don't have Showtime so i'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD.

Last week we stayed at a friend's house in New York, and they have Showtime On Demand, which allowed us to watch the whole first season start to finish.

I enjoyed it, and think some of the writing is really great. Mary Louise Parker is fantastic in the lead role, and i love Kevin Nealon as her dimwitted accountant.

I also really like the use of the Little Boxes song in the opening credits.

Well, shit, i didn't realize this thread was a year old. I'm a bit behind the times, i guess.

Mhendo, if you have a highspeed connection, bitmetv has the first four episodes of season 2 avail to download right now!!!

feel the love!

Thanks for the heads up.

I probably won't take advantage of it though. I've never used Bit Torrent before, not because i'm especially daunted by the technological stuff, but because i just never had that much of a need for the TV shows etc. that are offered for download.

I watch too much TV already, and waiting until season 2 of Weeds comes to DVD won't kill me. I've got plenty of other stuff to watch in the meantime. My Netflix list is crowded with shows like Monk, Deadwood, Six Feet Under, The Wire, and other great shows that i'm still catching up on.

Think it deserves a mention that the new season (3) has begun in America. Just watched the first episode and it literally had me in stitches.

watched the first 4 from season 4 now... it's as ever rocking !!!
If you're not using it this week, i was wondering if i might borrow your time machine?

Dug out this thread because I'm really enjoying this at the moment. Rented the first series from Lovefilm and thought it was brilliant. Great writing and acting with Mary-Louise Parker holding it all together brilliantly at the centre.

The worst thing about it is the black family - could they be any more cliched?

They are no more or less cliched than the drug dealers in the much admired (actually hysterically overhyped on these forums) The Wire. If you stick with it you'll find that the series appears to set up characters as stereotypes and then those characters turn out to have the capacity for moving beyond stereotype, doing things which are quite unexpected. That goes for both the black and white characters. Celia appears to be a comedy relief bitch cut from the same cloth as Karen in Will and Grace or Patsy in Ab Fab, but gradually turns out to be a much more complicated and likable character for instance.

i got to s6 , started on s7 then lost interest really quickly, which i thought was a bit strange, might need to go back andfinish it

I enjoy Weeds. It was like an easy going version of Breaking Bad. I get why people are not so keen mind.
