Oh my goodness. That is just shocking

In 35 years you'd have thought he would have learnt how to write some decent copy on his site. Oh, and how to take photos! :o

I made my wedding photographer cry... and then become a Buddhist monk.. I talked to his Lama about it...he laughed A LOT!!!! :D

*they are bleddhi good pictures mind..tho' never seen by noone.

From the flikr thread:
The owner and head photographer is a disbared lawyer

DISBARMENT
The following persons have been disbarred by the Supreme Court of California, effective on the dates indicated. They are ineligible to practice law, and their names have been stricken from the roster of California attorneys. Unless otherwise noted, they must comply with Rule 955 of the California Rules of Court:

* A. Brent Carruth, 53 (#47560/Agoura Hills CA 91301) - January 22, 1997

He was a full time lawyer before that, And even after He was disbarred he was working in legal capacity. see below:

Attorney suspected of soliciting murder of bar prosecutor

As late as 1999 he worked for the attorney in the above news story. They talk about his problems a lot in that article.

"At the time, Carruth was sus-pended, although he told Post he had “voluntarily surrendered” his law license. Post knew Carruth had been investigated by the State Bar, but was unaware of his suspension. (Carruth was disbarred in 1997.)"

"His misconduct fell into three categories. In the first, Carruth accepted clients without Post’s knowledge; Post was not a party to the retainer agreement. The clients sometimes met with paralegals, Carruth or attorneys who worked for Carruth. The second group of clients believed they may have met or spoken with someone named Post, but it was unclear if they actually met Post."

"One woman paid Post’s office $20,000 to handle her son’s criminal appeal, but was unable to meet with Post. She was told to mail her payments to an address other than Post’s office and did so. When she sought an accounting and received no response, she visited both offices for which she had addresses and found both vacant."

"In several cases, he relied on Carruth to refund unearned fees, but no refunds were made."

"An accountant found that Carruth diverted as much as $110,000 of Post’s funds to his own use. "

Since He uses his middle name as his last name it took people a while to find all of this out.

pmsl :D

He clearly likes 'experimenting'

The one on the rocking horse really is the best. It's priceless. That anyone would look at that site and say "ooh, I know, let's book him to do our wedding photos" is a mystery

innit... i mean there is a guy on that strobist thread who booked this guy... i mean, seriously - on that thread you have people who are giving out about guys going out and buying a canon or nikon with kit lens and deciding they are wedding photogs but when you look at this guy getting business at that price based on this portfolio its not a bit of wonder people are doing this

It sounds hideous though. I mean. I found being the groom traumatic enough, but all I had to do was remember to pick up the suit and not to stick my face in the wife's cleavage and start licking the sweat off her during the ceremony.

To actually deal with feral mothers in law, stressed out brides wanting to look their best, spaced-out grooms who forgot to get a haircut or shave, horrible children and uncontrolled pets, incontinent senior citizens, brutally drunk and dangerous bezzie mates and weird vicars, no way.
