I only saw two other people wearing suits on my way in this morning.

On the Jubilee Line this morning., east bound towards Canary Wharf, seeing the bankers dressed in "mufti". Some doing a better job than others of wearing the usual bankers dress down of; kharki chinos, powder blue button down Oxford shirt and docksider shoes. One even went as far as hoodie, ripped jeans and Converse, but oh dear, he blew it by reading the FT and the Economist.

:D

Shiny black shoes with jeans are also a dead giveaway.

The police have a tank too, tank battle on the streets of London would be hilarious

This is "the day before" - the G20 summit is tomorrow.

This may be a good point. If 'they' are out in force early tomorrow, having stayed overnight that would make my earlier comment redundant.

Are there earlier demos planned tomorrow?

Yes - iirc down at the ExCel conference centre. The Climate Camp is intended to be a 24 hours 'camp'. There are other demos aimed at different leaders (eg the chinese leader) at various locations.

You've quoted my misuse of 'their' (instead of 'there')! I'll be shown up as a fool for ever!

He has got a point. If you want to cause chaos then rush-hour is the time to start doing it.

A bit of mayhem then has a magnified effect.

I think this direct action malarky is in need of a shake up and perhaps the recruitment of fresh blood to it, with more of a 'get up and go' attitude is what is needed.

A Thatcherite boost you might say. :)

You kind of (as per usual) miss the point, which isn't to cause problems for "the working stiff" commuting to and from work, but rather to cause problems for the institutions and corporations those people work for.

Stupid boy.

Police stopped it to check it's tyres etc, it is road legal so they had to let them 'go about their business'

:D

The Guardian reckons they're anarchists - "11.05am: The anarchists in the armoured car are being questioned ..."

(((((((roadworthy anarchists))))))

Watching it on the news hope those goading the police get a f*cking pasting....the police look to be doig a great job....there is some bellend who I hope gets clobbered

Tsk tsk, 3 bottles of Sancerre already eh?

The cops are hemming them in to provoke a fight, have been down there twice myself, I'm on the outside, cant get in by neither are they letting anyone oot. Its Mayday Oxford Street all over again

"the police look to be doig a great job" - you blind as well as pissed?

The police have been practising this 'kettling' manoeuvre for quite a while now. They probably think of it as 'containing' trouble, but they must know that it just makes people angry. I guess that is what some of the police want, so that trouble flares up and they can vent their frustrations and justify using violence themselves. There is a PhD in psychology to be had here for someone brave enough to do the research.

1st vid on BBC news shows peaceful march being attacked by plod.

vid on Sky shows bloke winding up coppers, he gets too close and they grab him and start laying in to him, only for a ninja to come out of the crowd and smack a pig over the head with a pole, bloke grabbed by coppers gets away!

4/10 for agro.

There has to be trouble to justify spending nearly 10 million quid on pigs.

Maybe they should start using water cannon and shooting into the crowds the way the US police did in the 1960s in the South, when people still managed not to kick off at the OB. Or maybe the British in India.

This whole notion that 'Plod do X and it will always cause conflict' is an untruth - the conflict starts the instant you kick back at them.

Kind of says a lot about the quality of today's policing that those are the comparisons you reach for...:D
