web designer posting MY contact info on her website

On the presumption that US law is similar to UK law, if you're CV has any kind of personal statement or text you've written (other then phone number or other 'facts') then you should be able to get her on copywrite alone. It doesn't sound like she's going to be reasonable about it although putting this to her first would probably be a good idea. The administrative contact, registrant contact etc you've got so far is likely to be a bit of a red herring as that's to do with domain registration rather then host (which is often different). To find her host you need to look up the nameservers that are on that record. One of the technical bods who knows your site already can probably tell you or you can PM your site to me and I'll look up the host.

ffs, she doesn't need to alter the fucking flash links, she just needs to change the actual pages that are linked to.

it's a 10 miute job, and only requires access to the server to replace the files.

Jonti puts it better actually.

re salem's point, these are the contact details for her host, who I think you can issue with a take down notice directly??

That's huge presumption... If D is likely to go down the whole DMCA route I'd let her know first before proceeding. Hopefully it would settled at that stage before lawyers get expensively involved.

This has become SO preposterous. She has spent more time and energy replying to me than it would have taken her, I suspect, to remove the stuff from her site.

I don't want to hire a lawyer to handle this - I mean, I can't believe it has even come to this; but she's leaving me no other option. If I do get a lawyer, she'll only have to take it down; but I guess she figures she might as well cost me some time, money, and hassle in the process.

It's truly baffling behavior.

Edit your site.
Change your hyperlinks to direct the user to where you wish but add a new page to each of the old links to display a message to the effect of your OP.
Don't bother mentioning it to the bitch.

I don't understand this suggestion.

How can I edit her website?

I understand the links on her site hyperlink to your site as it is now.
Edit your new site so the links in her site take to user to a page stating her work was not used by you and why.

I understand you haven't read the thread :p

Here's the bit you missed :)

Thanks. I was under the impression that there were links to the site the OP was running now.
If the OP paid for the work, does that mean they own the copyright on that work and the right to decide who can use it for whatever reason?
I suppose that would be in the contract. Has to be worth checking.
The other thing is that if the OP's site is being used, there may be an assumption of a positive reference being given by the company concerned.
In this case it appears there is none. Could that angle be worked on?

You could also mention to her that should anyone contact you for a reference because of your details still on her site you will of course give that person a frank and honest assessment of her web and business skills

she does not care in the slightest, I am sure of that

Solicitors letter and a deadline will focus her mind.

If I could get a lawyer to write a letter on my behalf without my contracting their services, then I would have done so ages ago. I asked two of the very small number of lawyers I know personally for their assistance, one declined and the other blew me off. It looks like I will have to find out if anyone would actually represent me in this case and how much that would cost me. I have two more lawyers to ask and a few more friends who have friends...

as she is in the US just do a fake solicitors letter

she wont know the difference.

Something like johnson and little solicitors of that there london

Sometimes it's possible to pay a lawyer a couple of hundred bucks just to write a letter for you, even if you/they aren't going to go forward with actual litigation. The lawyerly letterhead is often enough, by itself, to get what you want. Won't any of the lawyers you've talked to even do that for you?
