Two Lone Swordsmen because Weatherall and Radioactive Man is an awesome mix. My mate interviewed them both a while ago for his Radio Station and he said they were really cool, laid back guys.

the lone swordsmen do it for me - much of the sabres shit sounds well dated now, but the swordsmen sound fresh, fresh, fresh!

a fine dj - as with all the best 'uns, well variable, but when he's on fire, he's on fire...

I have booked him to play for me.I have a pal who was on his label, he has given songs to a pal of mine to release on his label and I have hung around with the crowd for a while. He always was one of my fav all time DJ's accross all styles. But as people have said when he was on fire he was amazing but when he ain't he ain't.A complex dude indeed and there are good reasons why his performance varies so much. Can't say I have seen him play out or anything since 1996.

new Weatherall ep

anyone heard it yet? its the first thing out under his own name.

its called "the bullet catcher's apprentice"

my fave mix CD of his is the forcetracks 'hypercity' one. not a single tune on it i dont like, maybe i could pass on 'tessio' at the end by luomo though.. only cos i heard it so many times.

2LS also have a compilation coming out soon of some of their early emissions stuff, on rotters golf club.. of course dickheads like myself already had it all YEARS ago - and can brag about it too. that was my favourite period of their music, a lot of it was even 4/4, the second last track on swimming not skimming is a fuckin monster. jesus. even listening to it now still gives me tingles up my spine. i think its the only album i ever bought on vinyl and on CD.

Sabres for sure, loved his techno DJ sets, loathed the Primal Scream stuff. Or maybe I just loathe Primal Scream and all their faux-everythingtheybloodyeverdoever- butaren'twesofuckingbrilliant-ness shite they always come out with.

The bass in Happy Jax on Sabres nights was literally breathtaking - stand in front of a speaker stack and feel it pound your chest and body.

Rabbits jumping around stage throwing oversize carrots and firing machine guns into to the mix were a nice touch, so glad I didnt acid that night :D

Saw him at the E1 too blindin

Last time I saw him was around 98 and it was much more of head nodding suffle of a night.

I would say Sabres of Paradise

I think his music has been a bit hit or miss however :-
smokebelch - quality, in fact all the sabres of paradise is pretty good
screamadilica - nuff said
morning dove white - quality - not sure how well it would have aged though - will have to give it a listen...
never really got into the two lown swordsman stuff...

he's a maverick no doubt - but the muscial landscape would be worse without him......

I saw him play at fabric last night - his set was rocking, so he can still cut it on the decks...

quite funny seeing loads of peoole in the crowd wearing the trademark trilby!

I wish I'd gone to Blood Sugar - Weatherall's Essential Mix in that style (deep house) was fucking mindblowing and TLS tracks like Rico's Helly were sublime. My mate Rick used to DJ with him at Blood Sugar and he's a fine DJ.
Never thought that much of Sabres.
I have also heard him play almighty dub sets at Simon Scott's Soundclash in Leeds eons ago, alongside Rootsman and Mark Iration.
His techno sets are a bit meh these days but I've heard him play wicked ones at Final Frontier and The Orbit but that was over 10 years ago.
His electro period was the worst, dullest period though.

i liked it best when you couldn't go into a club or bar in belfast without either him or holmes playing - even crappy wee pubs

smoke belch 2 and haunted dancefloor was the best period obv
