Your friend Ross did a good thing.We want Plates was started by my friend and neighbour Ross McGinnes. His wife gets very embarrassed by all the fuss.

ETA: I asked my fb group and of the 20 who have replied only 1 uses plates.

My mother used to make oatmeal that included weevils. I'd point it out and she's say "oh, that's just good protein."
In your mums' defense weevils and grubs are a good source of protein.
I once had a vegetarian friend over for tea, and my mum served chili con carne, and told him to "eat around the meat".
I'm quite shocked by that.

I put this on FB years ago when I thought someone had parked in my parking space at home. Turned out it was a hire car that had been delivered for wolfie
I still have a pad of them somewhere. Ross has lots, or he did. He may have used his up by now.

The first time I visited America on my own I ate mainly at roadside fast junk food places and found myself wondering if Americans ever ate with a proper plate and a metal knife and fork. It was only on my third trip when I had met and gotten to know some yanks that they took me out to decent eateries where we ate with proper metal cutlery!
