well you can't use the socialist - the ink comes off. you'd be stood looking at yourself in the mirror shouting "Peter Taaffe.....my arse!":D

SW is a sad middle class lefty imitation of the Guardian that prioritses on events that happen at least 3,000 miles away.

FUCK OFF & DIE:eek:  :D

I sometimes buy it when I see it (which isn't very often but Waitrose used to sell it in Portsmouth!?) and it wasn't bad. Although it did read like some inhouse Union publication.

such a pleasant chap:rolleyes: Last issue i saw had loads on the NHS <about three minutes away from where I live on foot> Coming strikes in the PCS <about 15 minutes from me on foot>, oh and bus strikes <thats a thumping 40 minute walk for me to the bus station>. Obviously none of them are 3,000 miles away then. Although you would be a bit of a dim witted pratt if you didn't think that the money being wasted on war in Iraq and Afghanistan didn't have any impact on such 'bread and butter' issues....

A splinter group of the old CPGB uses that name now (publishing the Weekly Worker) and has a membership of around 30.

The Weekly Worker lot are not a splinter of the CPGB - although they would dearly love people to think they were - there roots were in the New Communist Party, a rather different kettle of fish.

Most of your paper prioritises on this and what happens in South America, which although I agree should be suppoorted is not a priority or a major issue for the working class in this part of the world.

When I see SWP or anyone associated with that Ciffitte bastardisation of Socialist politics I see red along with any good decent working class militant worth their salt, after seeing twenty years of treachery, opportunism, disinformation etc. etc. etc. from you lot.

Far too simplistic a condemnation, you miss a lot of the really justified/accurate criticisms of the Guardian by saying it's no moire than a Nu Lab mouthpiece. There's a lot more to it than that IMO ...

... which I haven't got time to go into now ... :o

If I were to say the Graun only fulfills Nulab Pravda functions that would be simplistic.

Individual columnists can be fairly radical, but there is a tendany for the front page to be very Pravda in coverage of whatever Politburo iniative is announced by Downing Street Press Office on any paticular day.

Editorials are often careful about being too outspoken. I think there is a distinct overlap in the types who work for the graun and a neolab autocracy that are now, thankfully, starting to fall apart.

The Guardian is certainly the most pro-Labour paper on the market bar possibly the Mirror.

An interesting thing about the MS is that they call people like Corbyn a "left MP" - not a Labour MP. They might be in some kind of denial about the fact that they are supporting people who are paid up members of Blairs Privatisation and War Party. My feelings for those on the left STILL in the Labour Party are mixed between pity and outrage at their gullibility.

Whoever bigged up Schnews earlier was bang on.

I find some of the style indulges in hyperbole and is even quite juvenile, but still it is entertaining and even charming for that.

Morning Star often covers the same stories but in a more traditional "respectable" way. I dont know and dont care what party they back, or used to back. It comes over as fairly independent to me in coverage of SSP, SNP, Respect, Green, Plaid etc.

Whatever the radical politics of MS past, they seem to know where the future is, giving more prominance to The Green Party than any other daily.
