we love the wire but......

If you've ever read ANY of the associated commentary on The Wire, or simply looked at the meta-themes of any of the series (streets, docks, city hall, schools) you could've taken a pretty good stab that the media were the next in line (not to mention that most of the preview articles and interviews with the shows creators talk about the shift in emphasis...)

Which is why I don't read preview articles or interviews. I do not want to know.

yeah I mean some people are taking the definition of spoiler beyond any sensible level, to the point that mentioning that the Night of the Living Dead is a zombie movie would constitute a spoiler.

who cares

So, The Wire, series 1-3. What wasn't as perfect as the rest of it?

Having Stuart from Queer as Folk as Carcetti. He's very good, but he's Stuart! What's he doing in Bodymore? And why is he shagging women? :(

yes but they aren't spoilers.

If the thread said 'no mention of anything past series 3 at all' then fair enough but it didn't it said 'no spoilers'. There is a distinct difference.

I've had MASSIVE plot points spoiled on here for me (thanks to Kyser Soze), I don't want it to happen again. The OP said no spoilers beyond Series 3. That means do not talk about S4 or S5. It's really very simple.

So 'No Spoliers' means no talk does it?

So when people post up say 'Alien Versus Predator - No Spoilers' they actually want to create an empty thread?

This is like a couple of my mates on 24 and ER...they won't even watch trailers in case it 'gives something away'...

And BTW MF, it was one plot point, not points plural...

those type of people are really just asking for someone to let slip a major spoiler. :D

That's it, I'm out. Not risking another major spoiler.

no one is going to post a poiler, it's just that seeing people acting so anal retentive about shit just makes it funny to wind them up a bit.

I think it was flawed from the start. fail.

if you hadn't screwed it up with spoilers and negative shit it would have done alright. the stuff on accents and freeman's character was all good.
the whats a spoiler and what format do you watch it was shite.
it beats isn't the wire brilliant threads which are all the same

he didn't spoil shit dickhead, infact he hasn't even been arguing over what a spoiler is, he even went so far as to edit his post and then politely advise you to do the same so other people wouldn't see what you retardly call a 'spoiler' and yet you still haven't done so.

I have. I'm watching series 4 right now. And you just revealed a major plot point. Christ I can see why you wind so many people up.

well i apolgoise to you then but you have the whinging anal retentive prissy pricks who started whinging about non existant spoilers to thank for it. I was just giving them something to compare with.

One of the weakest bits in my book is the character of Brother Mouzone.
He's necessary to the plot, like, but his character is a bit too 'quirky' and filmic for me, and we don't know anything about why he is/looks/acts like that. I still enjoyed watching him, but if we've gotta pick holes...

You have a point, but I liked the way he acted like he was completely invincible and then Omar just kicked his door in and shot him anyway. That sort of thing wouldn't happen in a film, that character actually would be invincible.

when omar and mouzone have a show down it stopped being real and went into some retro western thing. still i loved it

It kinda made sense, because both characters had this larger-than-life persona that they'd constructed around themselves. When they came together, I reckon they both just played off each other's showmanship.
