We has a coconut

Green coconuts are fresh coconuts that haven`t ripened inside every green coconut is a brown one that hasn`t dried yet .

same /same

I know. But same/different not same/same. Eating the flesh of one is a different experience from eating the flesh of the other.

Too much of anything is a bad thing, even water. It's okay to eat saturated fat but many people's diets contain too much.

Besides most cholesterol is manufactured by the body and cutting down on saturated fat can only make so much difference, I think.

I was slightly being flippant. Saturated fat is the baddy just now. In a few years they could easily change their mind like they did with eggs.

Coconut oil is naturally saturated as is Palm Oil , the saturated fats that are currently considered bad for you are those that are hydrogenated . this is the adding of hydrogen , surprise surprise , this hardens softoils like soya and rape to make them solid or semi solid.

true enough , I would have thought the flesh from unripe coconuts was almost inedible. probably used mostly in cooking I would imagine.

One of my favourite ways of cooking the white coconut flesh is to cut it to pieces , easier said than done I know , then fry them , no oil needed , until they start to turn light brown , take them out of the pan then salt them . I promise you its the best coconut you`ll ever try .:)

That's often not the message that gets out though. Or is put out. Butter is a natural, neutral product. It is not bad for you it just has a lot of saturated fat and is therefore something (in a country where obesity and heart disease is a problem) something to be aware of as a high calorie food. Don't eat too much. Don't replace it with margarine which has the hydrogenated trans fatty acids which are unnatural and not good for you, even if they have less calories.

I'm not a nutritionist but I can see that some of the messages put out on nutrition are amazingly confused, innacurate and plain old lies to sell stuff.
