Glen Driver has been appointed manager of Braintree. Have always had the impression he is a very competent manager and a decent bloke to boot.

He was the Leiston manager for a few seasons including their play-off defeat against us last year. I wonder whether he'll take Byron Lawrence with him?

Braintree have consistently punched above their weight for a good while despite two relegations from the National Division in the last three seasons. This division is probably their natural level but I'm sure they'll be confident of a top 7 finish.

Don't like them ever since the FA Trophy game where they segregated the ground and barred Hamlet fans from the clubhouse despite only having an average home attendance of about 600. Smashing them to bits in the replay more than made up for it though...

Ex players like Billy Crook and Okoye seem to speak highly of their time there, so can't be all bad.

It now been widely reported that Aldershot have been reprieved from relegation at today's National League AGM with Oxford City returning from the North Division to take their place. Gateshead have replaced Oxford in the North Division and there's no reprieve for Truro, who remain in the Southern League Premier South.
