Could you tell me who 'we' as in the 'we' in your thread title includes?

You did start a fairly silly thread assuming we all feel the same and then did fuck all to back your sweeping statement up.

Maybe thats why he is a bit miffed - at a guess.

I think that's a bit unfair. I think "we" know what the OP was driving at. Perhaps it might have been better put if the OP had asked if anyone on the forum liked/hated rnb.

It's still a useless and drivel soaked genre though. Just my opinion, of course. And opinion I am pleased to hold and it's unlikely I'll ever be persuaded otherwise.

So, if nowt else, the "we" is the OP and me.

Fair enough , but don't assume we all feel the same.

I think the OP/headline was likely written with a knowing wink, or an inflection at the end of the sentence, suggesting it was a question, not a statement.

I haven't assumed anything.

RnB is still dross, best suited to 14 year old girls playing mp3s on the top deck of a bus, on the way home from school.

Now. Excuse me whilst I go and listen to some muscular, grown-up music with aesthetic worth, instrinsic value and complex compositions.

I thangyew. :)

It's not exactly my fav stuff, but to dismiss anything* completely out of hand is the work of a prize cock.

*with the exception of breakcore :p

Well i like some of it. Some of the producers are very talented like that bloke who did crazy in love and that something track with the cut up drum patterns. Also some of the more electronic ' we be rollin' on x' style productions are good - how ever can't recall names but then again i don't hate any genre even jazz funk

You're being a complete twat y'know.

I have yet to come across any RnB that doesn't have me attempting to claw out my own eardrums. I'm happy to be convinced otherwise mind you.

For this reason I refer to my post above yours?

so you don't like No Diggity by Blackstreet, Crazy In Love by Beyonce, One Thing by Amerie - three for starters

Last two? No fucking way. Just not my thing. At all.

No Diggity is so so, great rhythm track and some good vocals, but also some vocals that grate...

I keep singing that Nelly Furtado and Justin T track as well.

I think I like more and more pop crap as I get older :o

Absolutely. I'm happy to engage you in a debate on the relative worth of say, Slayer or Judas Priest over whatever dross is being hyped as the latest rnb sensation. Or I would if I could be bothered.

RNB? What is good for? Little girls on buses showing off to their friends playing that shite on their mp3 enabled mobiles.

Next!

Come on then RnB haters, what's wrong with it?

Try to remember there is more out there than just Mariah Carey.

The commercial hip hop influence.

Too many artists using too few producers.

Stuck up club scene (not necessarily individuals) but every other club night being called Glamorous or such like....

Quite depressing as I was a huge fan but I haven't heard a record for ages that gave me goosebumps.

Is that the Timberland one, where he has a go at Kanya West? "I'm a real producer and you just a piano man" " We missed you on the charts last week; thats right you was'ent there."

Sure its trashy pop, but its catchy.

It's Scott Styris rather than Kanye west I think.

It is quite catchy as well.

Broadly it could be defined as a fusion of hip-hop, funk, soul and errr... 'pop'. Vocals are a combination of hip-hop verse and sort of gospel-inspired singing. It varies a lot though, earlier RnB has less of the hip-hop influence, RnB in the UK has picked up on UK garage etc.
