I didn't like it. Looks like a glossy superhero movie. Night Owl looks too cool. I knew it wasn't going to work out. The Watchmen doesn't need CGI.

The thing is, I thought that to start with, but I now think that actually it could be a good interpretation of the comic - which spent a lot of its time pastiching old golden age or silver age or whatever they were comics, in order to make the current heroes look a bit faded and past it.

The big-explosions-moulded-latex-muscles thing is the equivalent in terms of cinematic superhero cliches, and those are the references you have to make if you're doing a film version.

Having said that I'm still not at all convinced it won't be toilet. They might not be doing that deliberately at all, they might be doing it because they're throwbacks.

For that same reason I wanted it to be more film noir than blockbuster. None of the characters actually have any super powers (apart from Dr Manhattan) or are cool in any way whatsoever.
On the bright side the comedian looked good.

A lot of Moores output is really good, if someone just stayed true to what is already laid out very well in his comic books we might one day get a pretty good film.

I personally want Top 10 the TV series. Moore would have to write it though, that third book written by some other bugger is dire.

I really liked the palace on Mars bit, Doc Manhattan didn't look to bad either and Rorschach actually sounded the way I always imagined him too...
