Never understood why highlander is rated. I always thought it was - at best - moderately entertaining hollywood adventure fluff. It wouldn't get anywhere near my list of the best films of the 80s.

I still get angry with how ninjas are always so rubbish in American films. Even recent films like Batman Begins and Ninja Assassin in the finale the ninjas always completely lose their minds and swarm machine guns and things. All that training wasted....

Stand By Me is probably my favourite film of the 80s. In that it is the film I watched and enjoyed the most in the 80s.
Or perhaps the Monty Python & The Holy Grail or Life Of Brian would pip Stand By Me in that category.
