Warming up to Hatton V Mayweather

True

I quite agree Tony, If PBF does win against Hitman, then yep he'll be in the top 3-5 fighters of all time. Plus he'll be in Boxing's Hall of Fame when if he beats Hatton, thus his retirement. But if he loses to Hatton i wouldn't be suprised that he'll demand a rematch.

Tony and the rest of the boxing fans...

Pretty Boy reckons he's the best pound for pound slugger in history. Plus with great humblness that he's the best ever to fight in the squared circle. Also more dissing of Ricky Hatton!

I'm better than Ali!
Dear god, the man is a total wanker (okay I wouldn't say it to his face)... he describes Hatton's fight as 'dirty' while in the same breath saying that he hadn't seen it?

He's definitely an all time great, no question about it. He's thus far definitely top 3.
The lad is class,no doubt.

Going back to work in Pembroke on sunday 'til Xmas so i wont get the chance to talk about the fight with you all.

Yup Tony we have talked about this one since the Tszu fight, looks like being a classic, enjoy;)

BTW if you think PBF is great defensively look up Nicolino locche on youtube:)

all the best peeps H:)

I am really looking forward to this.

Given the corrupt state of the business of boxing it's rare that we get to see fights like this - the undisputed top dog at one weight, taking on the top dog at the weight below, both fighters in their prime, one the best in the world pound for pound and the other in the top ten, both undefeated.

I broadly agree with Tony's analysis above. Mayweather is the favourite and he's earned the right to be. But this is not a danger-free fight for him. Hatton is no Arturo Gatti, ripe for a boxing lesson. He has the energy and the power to wear Mayweather down. Mayweather is the more talented boxer (which is no insult to Hatton) but this could be a tough one for him.

Someone above asked where a win here would put Hatton on the all time list of British boxers. I think it would put him in or around the very top. A couple more wins against top quality boxers would remove any doubt about his status as number 1. I can't think of any British boxers who have dethroned two utterly dominant champions, fighters of the quality of Tszyu or Mayweather, but (and it seems almost ridiculous to point this out given how big an achievement that would be) his resume gets very thin very fast once you get past Tszyu and a faded Castillo. He's still young though so there's plenty of time for him to put a couple more big names on there. If, of course, he can put away Mayweather.

Hatton for me i think he will swarm all over mayweather like he has never had before ! .

on a side not some fella i go to college with is going !! ring side seats as well :( how jealous am i !!!

Edited to add

when hatton fought at this weight before he had a heavy cold which he has spoke of since hampering him , he was close to calling of the fight .

Hatton will win this ! he can take a punch and give it can you say the same about fw ? beautiful fluid boxer but they can come undone against balls and aggression .

yeah - I think Pretty boy is scared.

"My body is messed up - this lady wants me to retire - my hand is fucked - my shoulder is fucked etc"....

Ricky has him running scared.

Loved Hatton's piss take about how Mayweather hits the pads. hilarious.

Also, did anyone clock the miss (admittedly it was only one, but I thought it was quite funny).

Gonna be a great fight whatever happens, but I reject the Hearns v Hagler comparison on the basis that Hearns fought a terrible fight, where Flloyd won't make the same mistake. If he gets beaten it will not be through a tactical error, but through not being able to cope with Hatton's style.

I doubt that very much. But he will be cautious cos if he thinks Hatton will be applying 'educated' pressure and aint gonna tire like Oscar did after 6 rounds, Mayweather's gonna have his work cut out to keep Hatton off, and with brittle hands and dodgey elbows how is he gonna keep Hatton off except to punch him back. His defence aint gonna keep Hatton off for 12 rounds.

If it goes 12.

This is a bit like Curry v Honeyghan.

Can't f'in wait.

Could you explain how? Im interested to see this fight. But £14.95 is far too much for me atm..

Don't quote me 100% on this, but I think it will be shown live on China's CCTV5, which is easily available on all streaming progs - Sopcast etc.

They show most major fights...

probably going be shown at the sports cafe on haymarket in london, usually £5 to get in before midnight.

Has he bollix, reverse psychology. Pretty boy has been here and done it before - he won't want to lose.

I'm really looking forward to watching this, I really want to see hatton knock the pretty boy onto his smarmy ass.

Hatton has it in him to knock him senseless but he probably needs to get lucky as I've watched a few clips of mayweather and I have to say, he is a VERY fast and classy fighter and looks technically better than hatton.

Last night I watched the british bantamweight title fight between napa and power. The smaller guy didnt start too well, was getting boxed up, the other guy seemed to be the dominant fighter, but he kept moving, ducking, was quicker and eventually outsmarted his stronger, heavy punching opponent with technical skills and good timing, and won it on points. He used experience and technical skills, and a much faster fitter boxer.

I have a feeling that the hatton fight will go the same way, where mayweather might be quicker, hatton got the power, so we'll have to see what happens.

I'll watch it over the casino in cardiff bay.

I don't think this will go 12 rounds.

Me neither. I think Mayweather will just have too much and an answer for anything Hatton throws at him. I think it'll be a Mayweather stoppage in the middle of the fight.

I just can't see Hatton beating him.

I can.

I couldn't when it was first announced, but as time has gone, I'm swaying towards Hatton winning.

A link on here will come up later on in the week - make sure you're in IE when watching the actual streams as they don't work from that site using Firefox etc.

Tell me about it Relahni... am looking forward to this with serious relish, I'm gonna watch it with family cos it's the mrs's sisters 40th the same night. So regardless of how the party is going, at the relevant time I'm putting the fight on.
