Even if the state does provide universal after school/school holidays childcare so parents can work full time, is that really ideal? Should kids really be in structured, state-controlled environments from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm five days a week for 48 weeks of the year? And if all the parents are working full time as well, who will have the time or the energy left to provide anything resembling an upbringing?

Both my parents worked full time from when I was about five and so I spent vast amounts of time with childminders and in organised childcare, I fucking hated it

Nobodies even asking this question anymore which is really rubbish. Does it benefit a child to be raised in an environment of creches/ childminders, knackered parents and no family time?

And children fitting in with parental lifestyle isn't always good for the children, which can lead to later problems.

How we are raised affects us later in life, whether it is going to be good or bad we won't know til some yrs down the line.

What if the child who's parents work all the time turns to crime/drugs/alcohol/violence, etc to get attention? Does that help anyone??
And it still costs the state a shit load of money.

You know its funny - these workaholic families with one kid, both parents with jobs/business/car and they wonder why their kid is dysfunctional. They never have any homelife as a family. And I knows cops like this - whose kid is the talk of the staff room cos they cannot control them. The kids been put on drugs too - legal ones, not by the cop

Scrap working tax credit. Then employers would have to pay more or have no workers.

There’ll always be people forced into taking jobs, as there is no provision within JobSeekers Allowance that affords a job seeker the luxury of holding out indefinitely for a decent job to come along.
