Lovely traditional pub, in a quite side street just off the busy Albany Rd shopping area. Roath is a very studenty area but this is one of the few pubs in the area which is more centered to the locals, but saying that there is always a good mix of people. Lovely beer garden out the back, with bunnie rabbits and a bird aviery. Definately woth a visit

Good news: The Albany is a good pub. I worked there for a year or 2 and have drunk there off and on for years. You can play skittles there too!

Bad news: I will be in Norway on 6th May so, once again, will not be able to join my fellow Welsh Urbanites for a meet. Have a beer for me and be nice to Jeff the landlord

and this just in!

Excellent place! Most of the pubs in the area have sold out to students with garish colours and laminate floor where as this is still very much a traditional local's pub. Beer garden is great and used to have both bunnies and a bird aviery - though I haven't been in for a while so don't know if this is still the case. Hope this place never changes!

A brilliant and much-loved local. Top-rate cask beer and Guinness. Big screen rugby etc in back bar, darts, skittle alley. Nice old-style decor with stained glass' lots of wood etc.
My only fear: How long will it be before the place gets ripped apart, decorated with spotlights and filled with lager for students?
