What other way would you reccomend I control a myriad of different programs on my home PC to do a series of processes on a bunch of 20GB video files?

every time I finally get a video encoder to do something sane, I save a shell script to keep all the settings in a manner I can run.

Then I tweak the script to encode the video in a dozen variant formats, from phone-compliant to ultra-high-res-HDTV with a couple of bitrates for each.

and over the weekend, it gets sh*t done...

yeah, I got a decent set of virtualdub and tmpgenc jobs set up. plus premier has great presets. still not quite command line powerful, but less of a headache to manage
