Visteon car workers in UK (was Belfast) occupy against cuts

Durriti, you have little to say on the 'Linamar Workers Vote to Come Out in Support of Sacked Robbie' thread. Too positive for your negative naysaying tastes?
lol :D .. i live in Hackney not Swansea .. shakes head at your childishness .. i was involved in day to day support of the Enfield factory cos it is local to me NOt the Belfast nor Basildon factory and i will not be involved in day to day support for the Linamar dispute as it is not my union or work area .. so what do you want me to say?? :D

btw did you watch that video with Steve Harts bullying little speech yet ;)

There have been a spate of pamphlets out on this dispute .. e.g. from SP and SWP, neither of which mention the Ford Visteon Workers Support Group, who set up the bank account, produce all the support leaflets, did much of the fund raising and supplied the vast majority of non ex-ford pickets. but hey that would be too much to ask lol

One excellent one is by Alan Woodward a retired prominent Lea Valley factories shop steward for decades and a member of the FVWSG! Alan was in the occupation from the beginning and supported the dispute the whole way through.

"A Post-Fordist struggle: Report & reflections on the UK Ford-Visteon
dispute 2009"

On the 31st workers in Belfast responded to the closure announcement by
occupying their factory spontaneously… the Basildon (Essex), and Enfield
(north London) Visteon plants also occupied the next day… While the
Basildon workers’ occupation ended quickly, the Enfield and Belfast plants
remained in the workers’ for several weeks.

Written by a member of the Visteon Support group who was active in the
struggle at Enfield, this pamphlet briefly details the occupation there,
relates the occupiers dealings with Visteon, with the Unite union, the
support they received, and the outcome of the dispute…

fwd message

"In the Visteon Factory in Igualada, Barcelona about 110 to 219 workers were made redundant. They have been on strike against this since the 13th of July and have been blockading the gates since the day before yesterday.
"En lucha" wrote this about it "The interesting thing about this story is that it is most likely that the workers from Viston Igualda were inspired by the occupation of thier colleages from England and Ireland". And they recomend that Visteon workers get more radical and occupy...
