Virus problem?

When a PC is that badly infected its best to reinstall the OS from scratch and then make sure it doesn't happen again.

You might well have a root kit trojan and you'd never know, its very difficult to detect.

Everything seems to be OK now. However, my PC is now 2 years old and in need of updating and rebuilding anyway. Probably rebuild and reinstall completely over Christmas. Although the local internet cafe is doing very high spec AMD desktops for just €350!

Software is the problem. I have full legally licensed Macromedia MX and Adobe CS to replace if I go with a new PC. Bloody expensive. I feel very strongly that the licence should be per person not per computer

imo...

if a machine is THAT infected i would normally just wipe and rebuild. If you get a new PC transfer the licences to that one.

jowever if not an option buy some antivirus software or use a free one that aut updates and ensure that it scans all files on read or write for a while. this will slow your system down but will ensure that nasty stuff doent return

I thought you could transfer a license to a new machine? Not done it myself, but I'm sure a colleague did so recently. If you can transfer a license between people:

surely you can do so when you upgrade/replace your machine?

I have done this once with Macromedia. Problem was that I still wanted to use the old PC and they weren't happy about that so, I lied.

That's per seat licence. If you have 2 seats then you need 2 licences and promising that you'll only run one at a time is not enough.
