Virgin 1's Star trek afternoons

Has any real-world vehicle or dwelling EVER been built with an actual self-destruct button?

The earth? I believe it's an analogy for the mutually assured destruction set-up we currently have going on for the planet.

Today's TNG is old skool. Sets made from random brown polystyrene rocks and a big piece of orange card to stand against, plus an alien who is, basically, a blob of tar. He just went 'noooooo!' and the camera zoomed in on his featureless blob of tar face. :D

How this race ever got into space I have no idea.

That's exactly what I said this afternoon. We concluded that a technologically superior species attempted to invade Qo'noS which had reached and stagnated at a Viking level of technology. However they severely underestimated the warrior prowess of the Klingons who promptly kicked their arses and commandeered their ships.

It's the only explanation, it also makes a lot of sense when you look at the state of the interior of the ships. They look just how a spaceship that has been occupied by Vikings for a few hundred years would look.

Maybe the Klingons we see are just the warrior caste and there's loads of scientists and economists and engineers doing all that shit for them.
