Which bit??

Anyway, I've got age and a brain injury on my side for the second bit of my op :p

I think there is still a Flip in Glasgow and Edinburgh Ms Minx, certainly was about 3 yrs ago.

I don't wear the clothes myself, but I remember visiting the London shops in about er, 1982 :D

modern clothes are a bit gash, mostly.

Are you northern?

Why does Dolly not know gash? Gash is not a new word, so I'm guessing it's a north word.

I've been using gash as a term for naff/shite, etc for over 25 yrs.

Must be a northern thing.

Gash is a pretty southern thing - on a lady that is :D

'rebranded' um no? - second hand clothes are largely recent clothes.

It use to not be the case. I have an article from Elle back in 1994 about second-hand fashion - it is identical to what we now call vintage. Vintage has become all emcompassing rather than genuine old items of quality. Back in the day, I use to be able to go to a jumble sale/ charity shop/ second hand market/ vintage clothing shops and buy similar items ranging from 5 p to £5 to £20+. Many of these items were 50s/60s/70s pieces or occasionally earlier. There is a book called second hand cultures about the rebranding of second hand - antique/ vintage/ retro.

ok I'm starting to sound boring...... :o

Gash is not northern.

If something is gash up here it is usually 'shite' or 'foreign'.

There are a couple of vintage clothes shops on Vauxhall Road ( It think it's called that ) near victoria station . They look pretty good from the outside but I don't know what they are like on the inside !

I've got a lip gloss from urban decay called gash. :)

I would save all my clothes until they're vintage but I've never really followed fashion so I guess this wouldnt work.
