My step son likes cheese on his chips - I can't see the attraction , I love cheese and quite like chips but not together - I like custard and I love bacon but I wouldn't eat them together !

Especially whe accompanied with while sliced dripping with butter.

And I've never seen the mayonnaise thing. Always seems to tasteless for chips to me. Probably cos there's not enough vinegar in it

I do make an exception for French fries, though. I like mayonnaise and maybe a bit of ketchup with those. It's probably the only time I eat ketchup, the rest of the time it has to be brown sauce.

chips with most things on them taste great. my favourite things to slather chips in:

vinegar n lots of salt
gravy and cheese (although i've only had chips like this up north)
chilli sauce
ketchup mixed with salad cream

A lil salt and tons of vinegar, I always have to ask for more at the chip shop. my chip butties I like them soaked in vinegar too. Only in the past few years started liking ketchup but not really so much with chips. Hate brown sauce esp the smell. Mayo . curry and chilli sauce also nice, not tried cheesy chips yet...
