Villages Sussex

I remember offroading across Epsom Downs one Sunday morning to The Running Horses at Mickleham a while back. She and me were covered, head to foot in mud and felt bloody marvellous and in need of a pint and food. No worries, we would eat and drink outside. In deference to pub, stripped shoes and socks off and marched inside to order everything. Well the pub was packed and the whole place just fell silent when I walked in. You would have thought I was a piece of dirt underneath someones shoe. Just unbelievable. Good food and drink though

BTW I love pissing people of in smart pubs

One of those is sometimes mine, sorry.
lol

No complaints from me, it just means I avoid it. Not like there aren't plenty of pubs to choose from. If the Hatch is the current pub if choice for parents of young kids, that's fine and at least I know where to steer clear of.

Alfriston is lovely. We stayed there a week ago and had a good white wine from the local vineyard. They will be doing sparkling soon which should be good if the recent output of English sparkling is anything to go by.

I love Sussex.

The Stepping Stones has taken on the mantle; try walking in with a speck of dirt on your boots and the miserable fucker who runs it bawls you you. The really do expect you to remove your shoes before entering their pub.

I don't think it's unreasonable to take your boots off if they are caked in mud. A pub near me provides slippers for people who have muddy footwear.

Not caked, just ming from his poxy car park is enough for a rollocking.

Slippers? Are you sure you're not confusing pub with old folks home?

In the title you mention Sussex. Kent ok? I assume you will be driving.
Tenterden is a pituresque little town. A few shops a few pubs a museum and a heritage railway, sorted.
There are many good places in the area to visit.
I also like Horsham. A small town with a comfortable feel. A few independent shops, pubs, museum and plenty roundabout, but, I would avoid just before Christmas.

Cool Datsuns?

The ones rusting into the ground with plants growing out of them.

Not a village and not in Sussex but a nice little town all the same, individual shops, nice pubs and on the river; Abingdon.

Shere is a lovely village. That whole area of Surrey Hills is great.

I live just on the edge of it and our nearest village Brockham is also lovely and has an ace fireworks display every year.

Can recommend the Parrot in Ockley for a decent pub ad well as the Abinger Hatch not that far from Shere (parrot is nearer Leith Hill)

Parrot has its own farm near dorking supplying meat and a farm shop and a new coffee roasters run by a lovely Swedish couple next to the pub.

My ex lives in Farleigh Green, and we used to go to a really nice pub called the pink willy, (its called something like the prince william the third and the outside of the building is pink)..... I can't remember where it is though.

I used to like spending time up there, it was a beautiful area.

You mean Farley Green? Farleigh Green is nowhere near Shere.

Farley Green, isn't that Sanderstead way. If I am right, who would want to go there. Last time even I was there even the big dodgy pub had long since closed?

It's in the middle of the Surrey Hills

There's not much to it, most exciting thing to the village is the tall chimney pots...
