Victorian Farm

Think its great, glad they did'nt get a load of celebs in and turned it into Celeb Victorian Farm which is the norm now.

Also, they are not actually living in the pretty cottage at all, they have a nice little flat in the big house. When the Beeb did that Stone Age village series, they all lived there all the time.......

Why do they have to live it though? It's not full on reality TV, they're historians doing a job. I hope they let them have weekends off too.

Exactly - that's precisely why I like it. It isn't a reality show, but a nice bit of low history with props.

Bit more hard work and dirt in this series -enjoyed it

(Candleford is a disgrace as its all too clean and no one really works - plus its always nice weather !)

BBC never showed the WW2 Coal House in England alas ...!

The basket that basketmaker made was a quality piece of work, built to last, the presenter jumping up and down on it

They spent 4 hours sawing a gate post

Imagine being employed as a sawyer back then, doing that every day :(

well i love it.

showing my 5 yr old how things were done before the advent of washing machines, combine harvesters and chainsaws. that's proper education. and they have all the experts there teaching them as they go. so there's no issues with animal welfare or whatever. just watching that woman doing the washing was making me wince and thank heavens for my washer and dryer.. really brings things into perspective.

i still have the piglets one to watch.. i'm saving that one :)

It's on BBC2 again I am watching it this time, was unaware last time.
I find it fascinating a really interesting programme, it seems life was a lot harder then. However I can't help thinking it was a lot more rewarding with it's variety and constantly changing workspace..
It's hard to imagine what it was like when you have a commute and a job to do and if it wasn't for all these modern conveniences like washing machines, electric lights etc maybe we wouldn't have to work for other people for so little money?
I am another one who is confused at the bile being hurled at what is an interesting look at our collective history.
