Victoria Line Closures - 2009. Loads of them.

fucking cunting fucking fuck.

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Do they give a refund for the fact that their fucking trains only work about two weekends a fucking month?!

My G/F lives in Hackney - Brixton to Hackney is a pain in the arse.

Without the Victoria Line at weekends it's gonna be a right fucking hassle getting back and forth.
Herne Hill -> West Hampstead TL
West Hampstead -> Hacnkey Central

takes about 1:15, which isn't too speedy, but at least it's not a bus...

I could give that a blast. Thanks.

I currently go to Vic line to Oxford Circus and then Central to Mile End and get a 277 to hers.

I've just gone through all those dates - that's a whole heap of inconvenience for people over the coming months, including a bank holiday Monday.

It's very frustrating having to keep coming up with new ways to get about.

Hell, if you want a way to go with the vic line it's

Brixton -> Highbury & Islington
Overground -> Hackney Central (or Homerton or Hackney Wick)

That only takes 35/40 minutes.

Victoria -> Barking (District) 40mins
Barking -> Blackhorse Road (Overground) 20mins

Should take 1 hour if you time it right.

OR

Victoria -> Liverpool Street (Circle) 23mins
Liverpool Street -> Tottenham Hale or Walthamstow Central (NX East Anglia) 13-15mins

If those stations aren't too far away, could be as little as 40 minutes. These trains are more regular on the weekend, compared to the overground.

There are 43 trains on the line, so does that mean I've got a 1 in 43 chance of cathcing one, or will it always be running the 23:55 from Seven Sisters? I want a go on one :)

Apparently the new stock will make my journey quicker and more comfortable. I hope this means quieter.

I don't want new trains. I like the old ones.

They seem to be installing newfangled platform indicator things at Green Park.

I don't know if that's just a Green Park thing or a Victoria Line thing.

faster, bigger, more reliable, wider doors, it's all good. join us teuchter, come into the future with us :)

don't scare him crispy.

Someone already brought up rimming on his finger licking thread today. There's only so much he can take.

:(

How many seats are there on the new trains compared to what we've got now? :hmm:

New trains: seating for 252 and standing space for an estimated 1196 passengers
Old trains: seating for 304. No official standing figures that I can find.

not interesting in the standing figures. I just want to know I'm going to get a seat :D

I fail to see how fewer seats makes my journey more comfortable.

No nice wraparound windows on the cabs.
No vaguely 60s styled interiors
Smaller windows
Less seats
Probably less strange noises from the air compressors and no strange dials on the bits under the seats
No "made by Metro-Cammell" written in the floors
No historical distinction as first fully automated trains in the world
No "oldest trains on the underground" status

You can always get a seat at Victoria to Brixton with one of the carriages right at either end....you've got to stand right by the doors and nip in sharpish when the wall of humanity and suitcases alight though.
