Venezuela: Nation free of illiteracy

Just got an email from the friend I mentioned above - he tells me that the literacy programme overall has been a great success, but for many of the indigenous peoples in the remoter parts of the country, it's been very difficult for the programme to reach them (though efforts have been made).

purely for practical, logistical reasons? (i.e. country a right bugger to get across, people difficult to find?)

My colleague said he was impressed that would go to the trouble of finding groups that usually get missed, and then visit them in a HELICOPTER (capital letters his).

i'm bloody impressed by that, especially as given the nature of the terrain in deep 'up country' you'd need a bit of balls to land a chopper there!

If they've achieved that -- great.

But this smacks of the same thing as the Chinese claim of 100% employment--propaganda.
i extend my permission most graciously, for you to come round my place, pull down my trousers and kiss my hairy arse :D

fucking china you nutter :D

Fuck off Welf - you're next on Ted's list

No thanks! I'd not engage in that behavior with someone so credulous. I simply don't buy a 100% claim from any government, not yours, not mine, not Venezuela.

And if you'll be so good as to actually read the thread you'll find that I was comparing one claim of 100% achievement against another--not China to Venezuela.

A mere bagatelle to our Hugo, and those inspired by his leadership (joke).

Oh, and 'primitive people' are

A). Not 'primitive' whatever that means

&

B). Not 'pure anarchists' whatever that means.

I'm glad you agree with me.

So why the sneering?

You know how ;)-free irony/jokes often derail threads and lead to massive arguments.
oh sorry i didn't realise how that looked

Not sneering meant to be agreeing with you and sneering at the person who didn't twig earlier.

maybe i'll just stop sneering - the wind may change at any minute :)
