I've been in this pub, it's a grea boozer - it's also the HQ for the Cliffe Bonfire Society. The night before the main parade is mental and well recommended (obvs not if youre a vegan!)

He's put them in an impossible situation. The pubs will be vilified, boycotted, and possibly attacked by AR nutters now. The owners have to publicly disassociate themselves from him and fire him. Don't you think?
That's the capitalist logic; be interesting to know if he was acting upon instruction or of his own volition.

I could be wrong, but I suspect Harvey's is going to have launch a formidable PR campaign for this pub as it's going to get rightly destroyed on social media because of this fucking twat.

I can't imagine any regular pub management company endorsing such a bizarre statement like banning vegans.
Prob right; either way...some of the Harvey's snr mgt better sober up pretty smartish..otherwise they're heading for a RyanAir racist scenario.

It's quite clear from his own, and Harvey's statements, that this was his own work of genius. And we have at least one poster here seeming to gloat in his impending unemployment (though I suspect there are others). Do you think he should keep his job then?

No idea; I'm not a capitalist

Gloating in impending unemployment not in itself a sin.

Why should he lose his job?, he hasn't done anything illegal, all he has done is give the chain some bad publicity, he should be called into the office and told not to be a pillock but no it would be unjust for someone to be fired over this.

Lots of people lose their jobs when they haven't done anything illegal, you don't have to do anything illegal to be sacked

Why would anyone feel sorry for a fuckwit pub employee who goes out of his way to display his prejudice, damage the pub's reputation and livelihood and try to exclude people based on his own bigotry?

If it was my local, I couldn't give a fuck if he was sacked because I don't want to sit in a pub full of ignorant bigots mouthing off shit like this - or be in a boozer that sends out a message that it's the kind of place where such exclusionary policies were tolerated.

Absolutely and that too is grossly unjust but 2 wrongs don't make a right. Employment rights in this country are way too weak, the people who get sacked easily tend to be people that can be equally easily be replaced, those
who tend to be difficult to replace tend to get more leeway, that's unfair everyone should be treated the same.
Vegan is a protected characteristic under equality law, didn't you know.
No it isn't, give you your due you made me check but it isn't

Warning to not be a twat would probably suffice. Vegans annoy almost everyone, fox hunters come over as being massive wankers but the culture of its pretty embedded in country life I think? The entire charade of hunting and protesting is very weirdly British.
