If Shinawatra acts like Romanov at Hearts, then big name managers slowly rule themselves out - regardless of money - because of the dictatorial & clueless ownership results in the inability for any manager to create solid foundations at the club. But it never stopped them going to Real Madrid. OK I know City are not Real Madrid by a long shot but didn't they get through 19 managers in 17 seasons or something?
The marketing department were dictating who the club should buy and managers had no say so and yet they still came, one after another.

Managers go to Real Madrid at the stage of their career when they are at the top of the coaching ladder & want to prove their abilities in one of the most pressured enviroments. Also - from the outset the coach does only that - coach. He knows that board members & sporting directors are going to be buying the players, thats part of the skill - managing players & egos of people you wouldnt have chosen.

Man City want to get to the level that Real Madrid are, but its far harder to build when you let people that could help you suceed go. Read Madrid managers start on a platform where it is possible to start winning straight away.

And besides - on that score - why go to Manchester City when the Real Madrid/Barca/Inter/AC Milan job will become available tomorrow/in 6/12/18 months time?
