Actually the teabags we get aren't value, they're own brand. Whoops.
Sainsbury's gold label are the best tea bags ever! .....bit of a de-rail because they're not value.............

I go to Wing Yip personally. And I already shop at lidl for loads of things (stuff in cans, oil, fizzy water, fruit and veg). So do I have to accept that with my lidl/chinese supermarket shopping, I'm making all the savings that are possible without sacrificing quality?

Tbh I've always thought it was overpriced and not always that good on the few occasions I've been there. But then I've pretty much always had to watch what I spend and now I'm so used to it I can't not do it iykwim
In an effort to reduce the cost of my ever-increasing shopping budget, I thought I'd buy a few value things but frankly I'm unimpressed. I got binliners for the kitchen bin which are so thin, the weight of a rice cake makes a hole. And a pack of those sponges with green scratchies on the back but they're really insubstantial too so I can tell they'll last me about a week, consequently saving me no money whatsoever.
Is there anything that's good (any supermarket) or should I just forget the idea?

I prefer the cheaper Red label ones. The cheapo Brown ones are weak and I'd never try the basics.

The basics are OK actually, and they are Fairtrade![]()
Noodles is a good one.
no way, ever. i've never had value teabags that make even a drinkable cuppa, let alone a good one.

... good ... PG tips

Unbelievable as it sounds, Tesco Value reduced fat mayo is good - it's nicer than the non value one.

We probably make our biggest savings at the poundshop (technically a 99p store). The cleaning goods are fine. I really rate Astonish products and Easy isn't bad either.

Indeed! We have the branston beans in the cupboard.I love the 99p store. Box of 100 tetley tea bags for 99p and last time I was in there, they were doing 4 packs of branston baked beans for 99p![]()

the veg comes out of the same field as the other veg. it's just not as pretty.
Nah, but they quite often use heavier cropping/less tasty strain for value products though. Watery 'value' tomatoes of no discernable flavour, white spuds that don't fluff up as well in roasts and so on. Most is fine, but there are some things worth upgrading to.
Seasonal stuff in markets often offers way better value than the value ranges too.
Agree on Sainsbury's pepper bags - esp if you can get them when they have a 'not-many-green-ones' batch.
Does anybody really like green peppers? My favourites are orange and yellow ones
D'ya know I almost added a comment about not many green ones being preferable but thought I might seen weirdDoes anybody really like green peppers? My favourites are orange and yellow ones
