V

It does sound good. At primary school everyone talked about it but nobody really understood the allegory. I watched it once and found it dull. I might like it now from what you've said!

I guess it'd be a bit like reading Orwell's Animal Farm without knowing it was an allegory of Stalinist Russia.

Watch it if you can with the political stuff in mind - it makes it a lot more interesting and chilling. Think "nazi aliens" and you'll see what the story is about.

loved this when it came out, aren't they remaking it? sure i heard that somewhere

Someone's written a follow-up novel (V: The New Generation, I think) and I think their may be plans to adapt this as a film/tv series or something. If so, I hope they do it more in the style of the original mini-series (with a modern-day angle, perhaps).

It's been written by Kenneth Johnson, the original V creator. It's set in 20 years after the visitors 1st arrived. Johnson has described the scenario of the novel as being "like Paris in 1943, where you could have a cappuccino on the Champs Elysee if you don't mind the Wehrmacht sitting next to you and that all of your Jewish friends disappeared."

It was originally intended to be an NBC mini-series, but whether that will happen or not is still up in the air so he's gone ahead with the story as a book.

Interesting. Sounds promising, anyway.

By coincidence(-ish) I saw ep1 of the series last night on Virgin Media. It's pretty damn clunky, but enough going on to make me want to watch more...

I believe that's the follow-up TV series, rather than the original mini-series.
