Using someones unsecured network. Ethical?

Script kiddy (mate of a mate, sadly) I know knows fuck all about networking and so on tbh, but still considers himself to be a "l33t whatever". His terms, not mine. He's a twat, btw.

Could he break a WPA password? Maybe... Would he bother? Unlikely, unless it was to upset someone who'd already upset him.

Point was, imo, WPA is still probably secure enough for most home users.

Malicious activity is malicious but the term hacker comes from a lazy media.

We have lost that fight a long time ago, the word "Hacker" now means malicious computer intruder so to speak.

But yeah I know what you mean, in some ways I long for the pre internet BBS days to come back.

agree on this. However, I would also be under no illusions that any security mechanism is 100% unbreakable. Hazard of the job unfortunately. :D

True but wireless is really throwing caution to the wind. I've had to flat out refuse to enable wireless networking in some companies that I've worked at due to security concerns. At least with wired you need some sort of physical access.

We will not allow with access to our internal network. Any wireless networks needed must be segregated from the main network and subject to an absolute required business case (for instance, contractors requiring internet access).
