Using salt in damp rooms

But isnt that a waste of salt?

I suppose if you dry it you're just releasing the moisture back into the environment, which kind of defeats the object of using salt to absorb it in the first place...

Its just a neverending pointless cycle of de and rehydration :)

These old wives need something to keep themselves occupied in the cold winter days don’t they. Theres only so much frigging a wrinkled arthritic old claw can take :(
 
Chemical dehumidfiers use calcium chloride, which you can buy big lumps of quite cheaply.

I always used to get mine from Wilkos it's dirt cheap to get a big tub of the stuff sold as a refill, not as cheap as salt but I think its more effective.
