USB ports

Very odd. I blame your laptop :)
Try and force the DVD writer to run at a slower speed (1x or 2x) - that's the first thing to do if you're getting duds.

Basically, I have a USB external hard drive, USB computer speakers, a USB Skype phone, a USB keyboard plugged in & a USB MP3 player.

I think you need a few more. I'd start by suggesting you need this and this. One is a stupid toy and the other is a comfort device, which is which is left as an exercise to the reader.

I shit on outlook, so I can't help you. sorry.

I have on my desk a USB coffee warmer. It's a little hotplate in a tacky plastic case with an ON OFF switch. It does have a USB socket on it though, so may come in handy as a USB extension lead someday.

PS: I drink my coffee far to quickly to actually bother using it.

kyser: Crap quality DVDs will fail with depressing regularity. What brand are you using <insert plug for verbatim discs here>. Also if it's trying to burn a corrupted file then it'll fail when it gets to the corrupted point. Is it working with other movies/files?

I might be wrong here but you should be able to access the email formatting screen from Preferences or maybe options - basically you should be looking in the menu you update your signature from, cos that's where all the formatting stuff is done (sorry I can't be more specific - I wuz a wiz on Outlook but I've been suffering to use Novell at work for the last 18 months)

Funnily enough they are verbatim discs, altho I'll try Crispy's suggestion of altering the burn speed...

Works fine burning data onto CDs...

Try burning a different set of data to DVD, if the problem is the file itself then it should work fine with other data. If the problem is your drive then it won't burn the other files either.
