US Masters

All a bit of a let down in the end really. was really looking forward to watching the last round but there was not much drama with i really. i think the course organisers will have to look at the course and make a few changes to bring the excitement back next year - it was very queit in the crowds this year - due mainly to the players not being able to play attacking golf. i enjoyed it, but it promised so much more.
Well I enjoyed it - if you think there wasn't much drama that wasn't due to the course but to the fact the Immelman was simply too good and held his nerve brilliantly for his first major win. The wind and the pin positions made it harder to play than previous rounds - but hey, that's golf, and the top players should be able to deal with it. It might have been tighter if Woods had made a couple of decent putts - actually he was very unlucky with one that stopped right at the edge of the hole - but in the end Immelman played the best, most consistent golf all week and was a worthy winner.

sure - he was a worthy winner. but i think they have taken it a step too far with the course redesign. what used to make the masters special for me was the charge on the last day and on the back nine in. in years gone by There would have been far more opportunities for birdies on the back nine on the last day, which meant that someone could get on a roll and challenge the lead from a long way back. Now its all about holding your nerve and not making too many mistakes. I agree Immelman obviously played the best as he won – but in my opinion the course and pin layouts didn’t encourage too much of a charge from players lower down. Having said that Jiminez was amazing at doing just that (but he was too far back).
