US homophobia intensifies

Whatever.

You can drop the contrarian shtick, or at least get off the fence and stop pretending you don't know what's going on.

It seems like psychopathic behaviour is fine when it’s someone you support who is doing it.

Do you remember a time when the moral distinction between you and your enemies was defined by the depths you wouldn’t sink to or defend?

Am reminded that you have always been above showing any form of support for the marginalized and oppressed.

Instead, trying to elicit sympathy for the oppressors.

Keep doing it for the lolz, whatever you like.

Those must be some good meds.

But I certainly make the mistake of speaking to posters on here as if they have a conscience. Or a brain.

Well, it’s usually a mistake. Sometimes it isn’t. There’s a case for packing it in, though.

It’s a bit like talking to cat, this is. You know they can’t understand, but it can be helpful anyway.

Do you like Dreamies?

Derail, divert. Bonus points received for likening human beings to animals. Collect prize for "meds" comments.

Honestly, this kind of "be nice to homophobes and bigots, they're people too" wishy washy liberalism ... it only emboldens the far right.

But you know that, of course.

Accusations of dehumanisation and equivocation at the same time.

Interesting.

Do the letters “DPD” mean much to you?

Perhaps another way of thinking of it might be: if you were to suddenly find you didn’t have quite as many enemies as you thought you did, would that make you feel happy or sad?

Yeah, I don't think he even mentioned Bud Light, he said all Anheuser-Busch products and provided a list of dozens of them to somebody who asked

Tbf they’re all pretty terrible (the beers, I mean).

And these people can gtfo, obv:

When I mention threatening people’s families and there’s not even a sniff of disapproval, I wonder where we’re headed.

It’s not about moral equivalency, it’s about where the line is now, and it’s about what we are. I watched a film with some harrowing footage of the Syrian war recently with some proponents at some points trying to stop their comrades from murdering capturing enemies because “that’s not what we are”.

In an equivalent situation I don’t think I’d have that strength.

We’re not in that kind of war situation, though, and maybe there are better ways than alienating everyone who doesn’t 100% agree with our view.

It’s fun and validating to think there is a group of people who agree with your views entirely, and it’s fun to think you’re that guy who stood up to the Nazis at some crucial point, but the simple fact is that most of aren’t that guy, and the best we can do is to avoid being the other guys, and hopefully fold our arms in solidarity.

We’d almost certainly be doing so too late. But better late than never.

But who's actually doing that kind of shit, though? It's the far-right. It's the anti-trans bigots. You keep drawing equivalencies in behaviour that don't actually exist.

I never l drew any equivalencies at all. If you read back you’ll see that I just mentioned certain behaviours that I consider pretty extreme no matter what quarter they come from, and another poster associated them with the left and made efforts to justify them.

I don’t deny that the far right do such things, and I don’t support it either.

American exports are having a good year. I’ve never really understood why their president and lawmakers are expected to go to a ‘national prayer breakfast’. It’s led by the same outfit involved in the Uganda stuff.

Wasn’t that also the name of Charles Manson’s cult?

The fight back against drag begins. Communist hyenas, and the socialist dangers of free ice cream.

"Wolf Island was a dark and spooky place, full of shadows," he explained. He glanced up, past the adults, toward a camera that had been set up by Real America's Voice, a streaming and television venue that rose to prominence by hosting Steve Bannon. "And full of communists," he added.

It fascinating and horrifying watching them shift the Overton window over LGBTQ+ people:

'I don't get it, but hey, it's free world' > 'Y'know, I'm not sure we should talk about it around children, isn't it a bit, y'know, sexual?' > 'Why do they want to talk to children about it? We should be allowed to ask questions' > 'If we let people like that be overt about it in public then children will see it' > 'It's immoral and wrong, something should be done'

Several states seem to be at that penultimate stage already.

Begins?

This is insanity. It would be laughable if these cultists weren't so dangerous.

I saw something similar in a bookstore a few years ago. This lady had two little kids with her. She brought an art book up by an LGBTQ artist (Maplethorpe, I think), set her two small children on the counter, and began ripping pages out of it and screaming. The kids both looked like they'd been slapped. Others in the bookstore stopped and stared, while their kids hid behind their parent's legs. They ended up calling the police, who hauled both her and the kids away, with her in cuffs. Far from caring about the welfare of children, she didn't even care that she was scaring this shit out of her own kids.
