I remember when I first went to the US in the 80s and my girlfriend was scared of getting ill because she had no health insurance.

It was one of those politicising moments when I realised how lucky we were to have the NHS and how important it was to defend it.

I have health insurance and I'm still afraid to ever get sick. With a $5000 deductible and an insurer who cover admitance only at the worst hospital group in town I'd better be.

Why on earth they hijacked the word "Islam" for the title of their racist political organisation is still a riddle to me.

Some time ago I came across a US message board with a forum especially for NOI members. I really didn't know if I had to cry, to feel rage over or to laugh with their absolute nonsense-talk about Islam. It was absolutely incredible but to me the most incredible thing is that they really think they are Muslim and believe to follow Islam. They don't even know the difference between a Biblical and a Quranic text and create NOI-nonsense-exegesis of that soup.

Sounds a bit like the bible generally - a lumping together of a bunch of ancient texts with a massive dose of science fiction at the end. I don't know about the Quran - I doubt it's much better. Probably doesn't have the mad bit at the end though. If it did, then the fear-mongerers would go appopleptic I imagine.
