US Army opens fire on Canadian diplomats in Baghdad

.There are clever good soldiers who think what is doing is right and they are helping the iraqes . :(
I'm sure I read somewhere that the US army is now at it's highest level of "recruitment from higher education" - more degree/doctorate-level-qualified staff than ever before.

But probably not the sergeants.

Where's the Old Sarge when you need him?

Did anyone ever see that documentary following journalists in Iraq? John simpsons convoy was mistakenly fired upon by the USAF and one of his colleagues was killed. Scary stuff, with blood splattered camera lenses etc.

There was a motto in Italy, something along the lines of: "When the British bombers come, the Germans take cover. When the German bombers come, the British take cover. When the American bombers come, everyone takes cover."

I was told that, almost word for word, by german vets when I lived there in the 80's.

Except in german. :)

When we travelled in civvie vehicles in Iraq (big 4x4s bought in Kuwait), we had to carry A4 sized Union flags with us at all times so that we could wave them out of the windows as we approached the backs of US convoys, so that the kid with the .50 cal in the rear Humvee wouldn't add any extra air conditioning to our shiny new Landy Discos. Obviously you couldn't move for suicide bombers driving round in £35,000 4x4s dressed in British Army uniform at the time.

There was also a memo sent round by the US General in charge of whichever Corps we came under telling us how to decipher US military vehicles registration numbers (apparently you can work out which unit they're from from their reg) so we could report who had opened fire on us when they did.

Met a bunch of US girl students in Victoria last year

Quite a few had Canadian flags sewn to their bags
Wonder if they had ever been in joint exercises with The US Marines/Army?
