Uruguay v Argentina live stream

  • world class players throughout the first XI (bar keeper and CF)
  • the greatest coach on the planet who the players and media finally believe in
  • a group of players never more united
  • a spine thats been playing together for years reaching their peak simultaneously

only total bottle merchants could fuck it up - and if the worst comes to the worst i am £50 up.

England are still basically a quarter final team. I do think Capello has that extra edge to maybe actually get us out of a quarter and to another famous semi final defeat, which is the best we've managed, albeit merely three times, since 66.

What

The

Fuck

Bolatti was close to useless when we had him here. Now he's scoring decisve goals. At this rate, he'll knock out Portugal in the decisive game of the first round :D

At the last World Cup, before the tournament people on here were going on about Argentina and reeling off the list of players they had and how the final being between them and Brazil was just a formality... and look what happened.

I think the reverse will happen this time. Brazil only just scraped in to the 2002 world cup and they won it.

Hmm

*goes to check odds*

Oh I don't mind the banter from you guys and other English fans but you must admit the media will go OTT on it. Maybe Capello will actually reign in the players and stop them saying silly things like "it's ours to lose" etc. He;s been quite canny about England's place in the world so far.

I don't mind the hype, aslong as it isn't too over the top or something. No doubt argentina fans wil be thinking they can win the cup now...

After the match last night I tuned into 5 Live and they had Vickery giving some analysis and some other reporter on there reporting from a sports bar in Buenos Aires. Apparently a lot of Argentinians are still unhappy about Maradona thinking that they should have breezed this and that players like Tevez should get a lot more games rather than the likes of Veron. Come to think of it having Veron in midfield is a bit like England playing Phil Neville.

Or another way to consider it is to think - in proper world terms - England have only had quarter final managers since '66, with the probable exception of Bobby Robson.

To get back to the question of Uruguay v Argentina, what a rubbish match it was, leavened only by the hilarity of that Uruguayan defender's tap-tackle on the Argentinian striker and then covering his head in shame as the ref waited to send him off.

I doubt that either side will be troubling the latter stages of the finals next year.

I was deeply disappointed. I was hoping that there would be a mass scrap at some point. :(

Argentina will fail with Maradonna managing them - there's no way a team with that amount of talent - Messi, Higuain, Milito brother - should have scraped through via a play off. Wonder if Messi had a word with Caceres before the game before they rejoin Barca :D Can't imagine any other reason for him losing his head like that.

Did any England player actually say that, or anything like that, last time around?:hmm:

I do think that Capello has the players' feet firmly on the floor. He doesn't give a fuck what the media think or say and has his mind focused purely on the job. He isn't dazzled by Beckham's star as Eriksson was, dazzled by his own star as Hoddle was, or a good honest man totally out of his depth as Keegan, Taylor and MacLaren were.

My head says that it is possible for England to win the World Cup, but there are other sides much more likely to do so (at the moment, Spain definitely appear to be the team to beat).

Oh don't make me google for ages but I'm pretty sure there was some very upbeat stuff coming from the likes of Terry and Beckham. The last World Cup was a fucking freak show for England with orange-skinned WAGS all over the papers as well.
Capellos will temper those fuckers as well.

Stats just flashed up on SSN:

Before Maradona they won one in seven. Under Maradona they won 4 in 8.
Still, he does seem clueless.

Anyone playing Verson still is useless...they;ve got out of jail, just. The defence is a mess and any decent side will rip them apart.

For future reference silly mac users can get sopcast working and then use the wonderful myp2p links i provided earlier by reading this thread

or by watching
One of mates manged to get it working for the england game that was being streamed.

just seen a piece on sky news that suprised me, argentina only won 1 in 7 before maradona took over and have won 4 of 8 since, so maybe he is not as bad a mamager as some people, including myself thought, i am delighted that they have made it as i enjoy watching them play, and i have a lot of time for maradona (mostly) i also want to see as many of the top countries and players as possible in south africa

don't want to look like i am deliberately disagreeing with you, but apart from his time in england, veron has a fantastic record, he has just won the argentine title and the copa libertadores with his club, just because his game was not suited to english football does not make him a bad player, he was excellent in some of the CL games that he played for united

Veron in Italy - sublime player - no arguments there. I agree he was never going to work in England and that doesn't make him a bad player (see also Diego Forlan).

But he's now getting on and in the WC against some of the better midfields he will be a weakness rather than a strength...squad player but starting games? His strength was a burst of speed over a short distance and his vision but it seems from wathcing most of Argnetina's campaign that the legs aren't following the brain anymore.
