  8. ouchmonkey

massively disappointing year for country/americana in my book - I'm sure there's been some good things, don't think any made my list - but new stuff has mostly made me feel the way people who don't like the genre at all do about it - "what the hell is this leaden tired old crap?" The Sadies and Old 97's records were particular offenders . . .

okay, tell a lie Frontier Ruckus made it, probably higher than they deserve but the album's been a real slow grower on me - didn't rate it at first but I'd been playing it a lot before I made the list. not exactly country though, more indie-folk americana or some other awful description like that. mostly noisy guitars and electronic noodling this year. Got the number one, and a few other selections in there to . .

    Richard Dawson - Peasant
    Hey Colossus - The Guillotine
    Grey Hairs - serious business
Frontier Ruckus - Enter The Kingdom
Thor & Friends - The Subversive Nature Of Kindness
    Jane Weaver - Modern Kosmology,
Warm Digits - Wireless World, Memphis Industries
    Oxbow - Thin Black Duke
    Circle - Terminal
    Sleaford Mods - English Tapas
Thurston Moore - Rock 'n' Roll Conciousness
Colleen - A Flame My Love, A Frequency
Shit & Shine - total shit
    Mogwai - Every Country's Sun
Downtown Boys - Cost Of Living
Lower Slaughter - What Big Eyes
    Portland Vows - Play Nicely
    LCD Soundsystem - American Dream
The Bug Vs Earth - Concrete Desert
Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs - Feed The Rats
