i think we've established at length on the other threads that a band don't have to be totally musically inept to be hated. Most of the acts on the final list are probably very able musicians. But that's not the point is it?

I doubt that Dub. I've never worn short trousers (as I'm a laydee), and distinctly remember hating them when I was at school in the mid 80s. Living in Ireland they were fecking everywhere at the time. When did Boy come out anyway - 81 or so? My mum worked in the local record shop at the time, so I would have been aware of them pretty early. Too early.

In a nutshell:
1. What Dub said.
2. Their music ruined a million student parties for me, as there was an actual law in Belfast in the late 80s /early 90s which allowed the paramilitaries to shoot on sight anyone approaching the decks to put on anything else. Or that's what it felt like anyway.
3. Their music is bombastic, turgid, and most of all SHIT.

They are, by no means, the worst band musically on this list, but the fact that their utterly mediocre, soulless music seems to be everywhere at all times is enough to justify their hatred for me.

I voted for Coldplay primarily on musical grounds. U2 are shite but nowhere near as shite. However, whilst I concede that Bono is a far bigger twat than Martin, that is not how I'm judging this poll. It is a music and vocal poll to me, and thus Coldplay "win" in my eyes.
